Wix Events: Customizing Registration Settings & Messages

You can control where, when, and who can register for your event. Additionally, you can edit the short message that guests see on your site after registering for an event or when registration is not possible.

Show me how to access the registration settings

  1. Go to Events in your site's dashboard.

  2. Click to select the relevant event.

  3. Click the Settings tab.

  4. Click Edit next to Registration settings or Registration messages.

Setting where guests register (or remove registration)

You can choose where you want guests to register for your event. They can register on your site or on another site. Alternatively, you can create an event that doesn't require registration. This option is suitable for events where you don't need to track attendance, like a concert in the park.

To set where guests can register:

  1. Go to Events in your site's dashboard.

  2. Click to select the relevant event.

  3. Click the Settings tab.

  4. Click Edit next to Registration settings.

  5. Under Where do guests register, select an option:Wix Events registration page
    On a different page or web address:
    Enter the web address.

    Guests don't need to register: The RSVP button is removed from the event list.Show: Guests and site visitors will be able to see the Events Details page.
    Hide: If you simply want to display the event, with no button leading to the Event Details page.

  6. Click Save.

Setting when registration opens and closes

You can open or close registration manually at any time. Alternatively, you can set your registration dates in advance (e.g. registration opens a month before the event and closes a day before the event).

To set when registration is open or closed:

  1. Go to Events in your site's dashboard.

  2. Click to select the relevant event.

  3. Click the Settings tab.

  4. Click Edit next to Registration settings.

  5. Select an option:Manually select a status: Click Open or Closed to set the current status.

    Set when registration opens and closes (RSVP events):Select Custom Dates.
    Select an opening date and time.
    Select a closing date and time.
    Click Save

Note:

For ticketed events, go to the Ticket tab to set when ticket sales open and close.

Limiting the number of guests & adding a waitlist

You can set a maximum number of guests that can attend your RSVP event. When you reach the maximum, you have the option of either closing registration or adding guests to a waitlist.

Tip:

For ticketed events, you can limit the total number of each type of ticket you can sell.

To limit the number of guests & set what happens when registration is full:

  1. Go to the Events tab in your site's dashboard.

  2. Select the relevant event.

  3. Click the Settings tab.

  4. Click Edit next to Registration settings.

  5. Click Limited guests under Guest limit.

  6. Enter the maximum number of guests that can register.

  7. Select what happens when then guest limit is reached:Close registration: When guest limit is reached, new guests cannot register.
    Add guests to a waitlist: When guest limit is reached, guests can add their names to the waitlist.

  8. Click Save.

Limiting registration to site members

By default, anyone who accesses your site can register for an event. You can edit this setting so only visitors who become site members can register for events.

Tip:

You can also display your event on a page that's only accessible to password holders.

To limit event registration to members:

  1. If you don't already have one, add a Members Area to your site.

  2. Go to Events in your site's dashboard.

  3. Select the relevant event.

  4. Click the Settings tab.

  5. Click Edit next to Registration settings.

  6. Choose who can RSVP to your event:All site visitors: Anyone who visits your site can register for your event.
    Only site members: Visitors that signed up as a site members can register for your event.

  7. Click Save.

Editing the "Thank You" & "Registration Closed" messages

Personalize the short messages your event guests see in different situations. You can decide what text appears when tickets are no longer available, when the registration is closed, or after guests register to your event.

To edit your registration messages:

  1. Go to Events in your site's dashboard.

  2. Select the relevant event.

  3. Click the Settings tab.

  4. Scroll down to Registration messages.

  5. Click Edit next to the message you want to edit:Ticket unavailable message: Appears for ticketed event when they can't be booked (e.g. past events).
    Registration closed message: Appears if you changed the registration status to "Closed".
    Thank you message: Appears after guests register for an RSVP event.
