Collecting the Colorado Retail Delivery Fee

Important:

The Colorado retail delivery fee is relevant for business that deliver goods to clients, such as through Wix Stores or Wix Restaurants Orders (New).

Add the Colorado Retail Delivery Fee app to your site so you can automatically collect the fee whenever needed. Relevant customers will see the fee in the Checkout Page and in invoices.

What fee is required in Colorado?

To add the Colorado Retail Delivery Fee app:

  1. Go to your editor.

  2. Click Add Apps  on the left side of the editor.

  3. Search for the Colorado Retail Delivery Fee app in the search bar.

  4. Click Add to Site.

Tip:

The app requires no setup. You just need to add it to your site. The fee is automatically added to relevant orders.

Where do I see the fee that was collected?

You'll see the fee that was collected in the Orders tab in your site's dashboard. Under Payment Info, it appears as Colorado Retail Delivery Fee.

My business is located outside of Colorado. Do I need to collect and pay this fee?

Businesses based outside of Colorado may need to collect and remit if their sales in Colorado exceed a set amount.

If your business is located outside of Colorado and you're not sure whether the fee applies to you, we suggest you consult with an accountant or with your local tax authority.

My business is in Colorado. Do I need to collect this fee when shipping outside of Colorado?

No, this fee is collected only when orders are physically shipped with a motor vehicle to a location in Colorado.

What if none of the items I'm shipping are taxable?

This fee only applies when you are selling taxable items. If every item in an order is exempt from tax, you do not need to collect the Colorado Retail Delivery Fee.

What if I'm shipping multiple products together and not all are taxable?

If at least one product in an order is taxable, you need to collect the fee.

If I deliver an order using 2 separate shipments, do I have to collect the $0.28 fee twice?

No. The fee is collected only once per order.

Do I need to collect the fee on digital sales to customers based in Colorado?

No, the fee is applicable only for physical products.

Do I need to collect the fee if my customer chooses store pickup instead of delivery?

No. If your customer picks the order up from your location, you are not required to collect the fee. The Colorado Retail Delivery Fee app will not add the charge to the order.
