- Wix Video: Troubleshooting Issues with External Videos
Adding videos & channelsWix Video: Troubleshooting Issues with External Videos < Back Adding videos & channels Wix Video: Troubleshooting Issues with External Videos Videos can fail to upload or embed for several different reasons, including incompatible file type, privacy settings or encoding issues. If you're having trouble with external videos, try these troubleshooting steps: Check your video's privacy settings You can only embed videos that are public. It's not possible to embed videos that have privacy settings enabled. Also, if you change the privacy settings after adding the video to your library, the video will not display or play properly. Note: If you embed videos from Vimeo, select Anywhere from the Where it can be embedded setting (not Specific Domains, as this will prevent your video from displaying or playing properly). Check your video's Vimeo privacy settings When embedding a video from Vimeo, make sure the privacy settings are set to Public. Learn more about managing your video's Vimeo privacy settings . Log into Vimeo and go to your video manager . Click the relevant video to open the video edit page. Click Privacy on the right. Under the Link section set the Who can watch? setting to Public . Note : The selection will save automatically. Find the Embed section at the bottom of the panel. Set the Where can this be embedded? setting to Anywhere. Note : This selection will also save automatically. Ensure that the video link privacy setting from the icon next to share and Embed in the top right corner is set to Public . Note : Vimeo has recently updated their privacy settings which requires you to also select a maturity rating for your videos before it can be set to public. Check the playlist URL When you embed a playlist , make sure that you add the URL from the playlist page, and not from one of the videos in it. Check the Facebook URL You can add URLs from Facebook pages and your personal profile as long as the video is public. You also need to make sure that you approve the Wix app on Facebook when you embed the video. Check your Vimeo On Demand URL If you want to add a Vimeo On Demand video, you cannot paste the video's URL directly to the Wix Video library. Instead, you need to click Share on the video, copy the URL from the Embed section, and use the URL to add the video to your Wix Video library . Still not working?
