Wix Stores: Setting a Minimum Order Amount

Set a minimum order value to avoid shipping or delivering orders that are not profitable for your business. When shoppers add products to the cart that don't make the minimum, they are prompted to add to the order.

Tip:

A message appears in the cart only if there's enough information to determine whether the customer passed your minimum.

If the customer proceeds to checkout, they receive a notification when they try to complete the order.

Does the minimum apply to orders placed through the Wix member apps or other sales channels?

The minimum order also doesn't apply to orders you sell through other sales channels, such as eBay or Amazon.

Is tax included in the minimum amount calculation?

It depends how you calculate tax.

In some countries (e.g. U.S. and Canada), tax is added at checkout. For these countries, customers must reach the minimum before tax is added at checkout.

In most other countries, the price displayed in your store already includes tax. For these countries, the display price in your store must be over the minimum.

Do customers who don't make the minimum see a message in the cart?

If your store has enough information in the cart to know that the customer cannot meet the minimum amount, a message is displayed there. If not, the message is only displayed when completing checkout.

For example, customers can checkout with less than the minimum order if they choose store pickup. If you hide the display of shipping options from the cart, the message won't appear.

How can I let customers know that my store has a minimum order amount?

It's a good idea to communicate to customers that there is a minimum order amount so they don't get a surprise when they go to complete a purchase. This can be done in a variety of ways.

For example, you can add a banner to the top of your site:

Or a popup lightbox:
