Connecting a Wix Domain to an External Site

You can connect a domain purchased from Wix to any site, even if it's hosted on an external platform. This requires editing of the DNS records in your Wix account, so they point to your external site (the A and CNAME records).

Connecting the two ensures visitors can see your site (which isn't hosted by Wix) when they enter your Wix web address in their browser.

Before you begin:

  • Contact your site host and ask for the relevant DNS records (the A and CNAME records) to which your Wix domain should point.

  • Make sure to let your site host know you need to point your domain to them without changing name servers as this is not possible with a Wix domain. If you're required to change the name servers, you'll need to transfer your domain away from Wix to connect it.
