- CMS: Limiting the Maximum Items Displayed with the Items per Load Dataset Setting | Wix Expert
< Back Advanced features CMS CMS: Limiting the Maximum Items Displayed with the Items per Load Dataset Setting Datasets facilitate the connections between your page elements and your CMS collection items. From the Items per load dataset setting, you can control the maximum number of items that can load at a time in the elements that connect to the dataset. This is both the maximum items that can initially load and the maximum items that load when visitors click 'Load More' buttons. The Items per load field also sets the maximum items that can load per 'page' in 'Previous/Next page' buttons and pagination bars (Wix Editor only). For example, if you set the Items per load field to "4", up to 4 items will display in your gallery or repeater. When a visitor clicks your 'Load More' button, up to 4 more items load in the gallery or repeater . The default Items per load number is set to 100 on all page types except for dynamic item pages, which can only display one item at a time. You can set this field to show up to 1,000 items at a time. Tip for optimizing your page loading time: Use a lower number in the Items per load field to help your pages load faster with fewer items on the initial load. Adjusting the 'Items per load' dataset setting Go to the dataset settings of the relevant dataset to edit the Items per load field. Wix Editor Go to your editor and navigate to the relevant page. Go to the relevant dataset settings: Click the repeater, gallery, or other element in which you want to adjust the items per load. Click the Connect to CMS icon . Click Dataset Settings in the panel on the right. Edit the Items per load field to adjust the maximum items that can load at a time in the dataset's connected elements. This is also the maximum items that can load when visitors click 'Load More' buttons, 'Next/Previous page' buttons, and pagination bars. Click Preview to test how your page will load. Click Publish if you are ready to make the changes go live. Studio Editor Go to your editor and navigate to the relevant page. This is also the maximum items that can load when visitors click 'Load More' or 'Next/Previous page' buttons. Click the Preview icon at the top right to test how your page will load. Click Publish if you are ready to make the changes go live. FAQs Click below for answers to the most common questions about dataset settings. What is the maximum number of items I can load at a time? By default, the Items per load field is set to 100 items or 1 item for dynamic item pages. To ensure the best loading experience for your site visitors, you can display up to 1000 items per load on your page. Add a 'Load More' button to provide visitors with a way to click and view more items on the page. You can also add 'Previous/Next page' buttons and pagination bars (Wix Editor only) to limit the number of items displayed per 'page' of items. Learn more about: Adding a 'Load More' button to a repeater Adding a 'Load More' button to a pro gallery Why should I add 'Load More' or 'Previous/Next page' buttons? Adding 'Load More' or 'Previous/Next page' buttons to the dataset that connects to your repeater or gallery enhances the user experience and optimizes loading performance. Key Reasons: Improved Loading Performance: Displaying a large number of items at once can slow down your site. These buttons help segment the load, making your site faster and more responsive. User Control: Users can choose to view content at their own pace, which can be more engaging than scrolling through a long list. Better Organization: These buttons allow for better content organization, making it easier for users to navigate and find what they’re looking for. How do I create a 'Load More' button? 'Load More' buttons allow visitors to click to load more items in repeaters or galleries connected to datasets. The total maximum items that can load at a time is determined by the Items per load field in the dataset settings. You can set this field to show up to 1,000 items at a time. To create a 'Load More' button, add a button or image, connect it to the dataset and set the element's click action to Load more . Learn how to add a 'Load More' button to a: Repeater on a dynamic list page. Gallery on a dynamic list page. Note: If you connect a pro gallery to your collection's 'Media Gallery' field type , you can use the gallery's built-in 'Load More' button to restrict the number of images or videos displayed on the page. For directions, see the question below titled: Why doesn't my pro gallery's 'Load More' button respond to the dataset settings? Why doesn't my pro gallery's 'Load More' button respond to the dataset settings? The pro gallery has a built-in 'Load More' button that can restrict the number of media items displayed in the gallery. If you enable this 'Load More' button in the gallery's layout settings, it uses these settings to determine when to appear and how many more images load. With the gallery's built-in 'Load More' button, the dataset's Items per load setting determines the aggregate total maximum items that can load in the gallery. However, it no longer determines how many items initially load in the gallery or how many additional items load when visitors click this 'Load More' button. Consider the type of collection field your gallery connects to when deciding which 'Load More' button to use: Image field type: If your gallery connects to an image field used to display only 1 image per collection item, create a 'Load More' button that connects to the dataset. View the steps in the FAQ above to learn how. Media gallery field type: If your gallery connects to a media gallery field used to display several images per collection item, use the gallery's built-in 'Load More' button. Learn how to enable the 'Load More' button in the pro gallery's custom layout settings . Can I add 'Next' and 'Previous' buttons for visitors to cycle through items? Yes, you can create navigational buttons or images visitors can click to browse other collection items. To create 'Next' and 'Previous' buttons: Add buttons or images and connect them to the same dataset that connects to the page elements displaying your collection items. In the dataset settings, connect the dataset action according to the type of page: Dynamic list pages: Set the Click action connects to field to Next page or Previous page . When visitors click the buttons, the next or previous 'page' of items loads in the connected repeater or gallery. The Items per load field determines the maximum items per 'page'. Dynamic item pages: Set the Click action connects to field to Next dynamic page or Previous dynamic page . When visitors click the buttons, they navigate to the next or previous item's version of the page at the item's dedicated dynamic URL . Static pages: Set the dataset's Click action connects to field to Next item or Previous item . When visitors click the buttons, the dataset's connected elements change to reflect the next or previous item retrieved by the dataset. Learn more about the various click actions you can set for buttons and images . Can I add a pagination bar to repeaters and galleries? Yes, you can add a pagination bar to give visitors a way to navigate to different 'pages' of items on your dynamic list page. Add a pagination bar and connect it to the same dataset that your repeater or gallery connects to. Then adjust the Items per load field to set the maximum items that appear in each 'page' of items. How do I change the dataset mode? In the Dataset Settings panel, click the Dataset mode drop-down and choose the appropriate mode for your dataset's connected elements: Read: Elements on your page can read and display content from your collection. Site visitors cannot modify the content in your collection. Write: Elements on your page cannot display content from the collection. - Email Marketing: Choosing the Best Domain for Your Campaigns | Wix Expert
< Back Promoting your site Sending email marketing campaigns Email Marketing: Choosing the Best Domain for Your Campaigns Choosing the right domain for your email marketing campaign is essential for how your message is received. Whether you use a public email domain like Gmail, a Wix email domain, or your own custom domain, each option affects your campaign's success differently. Understanding these choices can influence deliverability, branding, trust, and engagement. Sending from a public email domain (e.g. gmail) Mail services might not accept email marketing campaigns sent from free public domains, such as Gmail, Yahoo, and AOL. If you choose to use a public domain as your sender email address, Wix automatically changes the sender address to an authenticated wixshoutout.com email address. This is in order to ensure that your email will arrive to the inbox of your recipients, rather than their junk folder, or to be rejected entirely. Important If and when your contacts reply to your email, you'll receive their reply at your reply-to email address and not the Wix assigned domain. Sending from a Wix email domain Email marketing campaigns sent from a public email address such as @gmail, @yahoo, or @outlook have a low delivery rate. To make sure more of your contacts receive your emails, they're sent from an authenticated address owned by Wix. You may also see your campaigns as sent from a Wix email address if your domain is connected to Wix via pointing . View examples of authenticated Wix addresses user@pb01.ascendbywix.com ascendnotifications.com wixnotifications.com wixemails.com wixsitenotifications.com wixsitemail.com Sending from a custom email domain A custom email is a branded domain name that can be used for your marketing campaign. Custom email domains reinforce your brand with customers and make it easier for them to find your business later. For example, if your email address is "yourname@wix.com", your email domain would be "wix.com". It is also recommended to authenticate your custom domain to prevent emails from getting marked as spam. Tip: Custom domains should be automatically authenticated. If it wasn't, learn more to troubleshoot the issue. FAQs Click a question below to learn more. What can I do if I don't want email to be sent from a Wix domain? If you do not want your email campaigns to be sent from wixshoutout.com authenticated domain, it is best to use an email address on a domain that you own or any other private domain (eg. @your-business.com). What is the benefit of using a custom domain? Using a custom domain can benefit your brand by boosting awareness and establishing a professional image. It builds trust, as emails from custom domains are less likely to be marked as spam. Consistent use of the same domain improves discoverability , increasing your chances of ranking higher in search results. Where can I purchase a custom domain? You can purchase a domain from Wix or from an outside party (e.g. GoDaddy.com). Can I use a domain I already own? If you already own a domain, you can add a business email address and send your email campaigns from a custom email domain. Tips: Before sending you can see how many recipients could receive the new campaign. Once you resend a campaign, it appears as a new campaign with the label 're-sent email' in your Email Marketing dashboard. FAQs Click a question below to learn more about sending your email campaign. Why do my email campaigns with a large number of recipients take longer to send? Sending your campaigns to a large number of recipients may still increase the time it takes for all recipients to receive your newsletter. Most campaigns are sent immediately, however, in extreme cases it may take up to 24 hours for all to be sent. What is the Reply-to-Email? The Reply-to email is the email address your subscribers reach when clicking Reply . Do my campaigns get sent from my reply-to email address? The email address your campaign is sent from depends on a few factors. If your reply-to email address is: A business email address with your own custom domain: Your campaigns will be sent from the reply-to email address (e.g. sales@mystunningwebsite.com). Note: Your business email's domain must be connected to Wix via name servers for the emails to send from your business email. If you connected the domain to Wix via pointing , the emails will be sent from a Wix email address. A public email address such as @gmail, @yahoo, @outlook: Your campaigns will be sent from a Wix email address such as user@pb01.ascendbywix.com. Learn more about the Wix email addresses used to send your campaigns . What is email sampling? When you send your campaign to a new list of contacts, Wix may send the emails in batches. If a certain percentage of your emails are bounced or rejected, your campaign will not be sent to the rest of the recipients. This email sampling is done to ensure that you do not damage your sending reputation, in case you send to invalid contacts. Learn more about email sampling . What is email throttling? Email throttling is a part of the email marketing abuse detection system used to prevent spam and harmful campaigns. If the system finds potential issues with your campaign, the rate at which the emails are delivered is slowed down. This deliberate slowdown of email distribution in order to prevent potential spam is known as 'email throttling'. Why did some recipients get removed from my campaign? After sending your email campaign, Wix reviews your list of recipients. Your recipients are automatically removed if emails to them are likely to get marked as spam or bounce back. This automatic removal of recipients is to protect your sender reputation . Why is my campaign in "In Review" status? After sending your email campaign, it can go into an "In Review" status before it is actually sent to your contacts. In this status, your campaign is being checked to make sure it complies with our Email Marketing Terms of Use . This is also to ensure you do not damage your sender reputation . Campaigns in review are usually sent within minutes. However, it can take up to 3 hours to complete the review. If your campaign is still in review after 3 hours, you can contact us to check the reason for the delay. Why am I not receiving my test emails? Here are some common reasons why you might not be receiving your test emails: Spam Filters: The email service provider receiving your email campaign decides whether or not to mark it as spam. Most email service providers, such as Google and Yahoo have systems in place which automatically scan incoming mail. Delivery Time: Non compliance with Wix Email Marketing best practices leads at a minimum to a delay in the delivery of your newsletter. Small Batch Delivery: Webmail providers that deliver in small batches include Yahoo, AOL, and Hotmail. If your sender's email account is hosted at one of these providers, it may take up to 24 hours for your email campaign to be delivered. DMARC: Several free email service providers like Yahoo and AOL have updated their DMARC policies in an effort to reduce email abuse issues. If you send an email campaign with a Yahoo (including Ymail and RocketMail) or AOL sender's email address, the receiving email provider may reject the newsletter. If you do not receive your test emails, try the following: Check your spam folder. Send your test to a different email address. Why aren't my images displayed in my email campaign? Some mail providers prevent images and multimedia content from appearing directly in the email. These settings are not determined by Wix but by the mail provider receiving the email. Why is my campaign marked as Published but it wasn't sent to anyone? When sending a campaign, be sure to select the recipients who you want to receive the campaign. Learn more about adding recipients to your campaign . Why does my test email show the subject line or pre-header from a previous campaign? If your test email displays a subject line or pre-header from a past campaign, it may be because you duplicated an earlier campaign to create your new one. Currently, you cannot edit the subject line or pre-header on test emails. If you use a duplicated campaign, the test email will show the original details. You’ll be able to update the subject line and pre-header when finalizing your campaign on the Campaign Preview page, before you send it to your recipients. Why is the wrong image shown when I share my email campaign on Facebook? If Facebook is displaying the wrong image when you share your email campaign link, you can try using the Facebook debugger tool with your campaign URL. This tool refreshes how Facebook sees your link and can help show the correct image. If the image still doesn't appear as expected, make sure you have an image added directly in your email campaign content (not just inside a column). Images that are part of a column may not display correctly when sharing on Facebook. Why do recipients see the warning “Be careful with this message” in their inbox? If you haven’t authenticated your email address, Gmail may flag your emails to recipients with a “Be careful with this message” warning. This is to help protect users from potentially suspicious emails. To resolve this, authenticate your domain . This lets email providers know that your emails are safe and come from a trusted source. Why are my emails going to the Promotions tab instead of the Primary inbox? The Promotions tab in Gmail is not a spam folder. It is a separate inbox tab where Gmail places marketing emails, newsletters, discounts, and business updates. If your email lands in Promotions, it means the email was delivered successfully and passed spam checks. Wix cannot force an email into a recipient's Primary inbox. If someone wants your emails in their Primary tab, they need to drag the email from Promotions to Primary and confirm that future emails should go there. Why didn't my scheduled email campaign send at the right time? If you edit an email campaign after scheduling it, the campaign is automatically paused so your new changes can be saved. The campaign doesn't resume on its own. To send the campaign, go back to it and reschedule the send time. Why did my monthly balance change after my scheduled resend was sent? At the scheduled time, the resend goes only to recipients who still haven’t opened your campaign, and your balance is adjusted to match the number of emails actually sent. This number might be less than the number you originally saw when scheduling the resend email. This article is credited to the Wix team - https://support.wix.com/ and we thank them for that!
