- Email Marketing: Authenticating Your Custom Email Domain | Wix Expert
< Back Promoting your site Sending email marketing campaigns Email Marketing: Authenticating Your Custom Email Domain Before you begin: This article refers to domains purchased outside of Wix (e.g. GoDaddy.com). If you purchased a Wix domain, the authentication process starts automatically. However, if the process did not happen automatically, follow the troubleshooting steps . It's recommended to first authenticate a custom domain if you have an email address associated with it (e.g. contact@customdomain.com). Emails sent from authenticated domains are less likely to be marked as spam because email providers such as Google and Outlook view them as legitimate. If your domain isn't authenticated, Wix automatically adds an authenticated Wix domain (e.g. ascendbywix.com) like in the image below. This helps with email deliverability. To remove the Wix signature, manually authenticate your domain by following the below steps. Step 1 | Get the DNS records provided by Wix The first step to manually authenticate your custom domain is locating the DNS records provided by Wix. You can find these either from your Email Marketing dashboard or when creating an automation using 'send an email' as a follow up action. Before viewing the records you must first confirm your email address with a confirmation code. To get your DNS records: Go to Email Marketing in your site's dashboard. Under Sender Details on the right, click Manage Senders . Note: If you've previously entered an email address, click the Edit icon instead. Enter a Sender's name in the field. Recipients see this name as the email sender. Enter a Reply-to email . Use the email address that is connected to your custom domain. Click Save . Confirm your email address by entering a confirmation code. The code is sent to the address you just added. Paste the code into the field and click Confirm . Once your email is confirmed you will see 'Not authenticated' under Domain status . Click Authenticate this domain . A list of CNAME records opens. This is the information you need to copy and paste into your external domain provider settings. Keep this information available as you move to the next step. Tip: You can also view DNS records by clicking Edit under Sender details when setting up an email automation. Go to Automations in your site's dashboard to get started. Step 2 | Sign in to your external domain provider and go to your DNS settings Once you have the DNS records provided by Wix, go to your external domain provider (e.g. GoDaddy.com) and sign in to your account. Locate the DNS settings of your account. Once you find the DNS records, you are ready to copy and paste the Wix provided records from Step 1 into the relevant fields. Note: Depending on the domain provider, domain authentication process might be slightly different from what is described in this article. There might also be some other specific steps you need to take in your domain provider account that are not described in this article. In case your domain is still not authenticated, please contact your domain provider. Step 3 | Copy and paste the Wix records into your domain provider settings Now that you have both your Wix records and the DNS settings of your domain provider open, copy the CNAME record from Wix and paste it into the corresponding fields of your domain provider settings. Once you've copied all the records exactly as they appear, click the confirm message in your domain provider DNS settings. Note: Depending on your provider, the domain authentication process might be slightly different from what is described in this article. You may only need to copy the first part of the CNAME record in the HOST column (i.e. without your domain name) to authenticate your domain. If you are unsure of which to copy, contact your provider. For example: If the CNAME in your HOST column is s1._domainkey.j-scale.com you need to only copy s1._domainkey If the CNAME in your HOST column is sg.j-scale.com you need to only copy sg Step 4 | Wait for the records to propagate Once you've copied the DNS records over to your domain provider it can take a few hours for the records to propagate and the authentication to be completed. If you don't see it, allow up to 24 hours for the authentication to be completed. You can always check the status of the domain in your Email Marketing dashboard under Sender Details . Refresh the page to see Domain status . FAQs Click a question below to learn more. Why do I need to authenticate my custom domain? If you are sending emails from a domain that isn't authenticated, email providers may consider these emails as suspicious. This can cause them to be more likely marked as spam and land in spam folders. Receiving mail servers look to verify incoming emails by looking at the sending reputation associated with the sending domain and sending IP address. You increase your deliverability chances and improve sender reputation by authenticating your domain. What is a CNAME record? A CNAME is a type of DNS record that allows Wix to authenticate an email domain. When you add records provided by Wix into your domain host settings, it helps with domain authentication. Once the records are propagated, email providers recognize your emails sent using Wix as genuine and trustworthy. Will authenticating my custom domain using the steps above mean that my DMARC record will also be set up? Yes, with the CNAME 5 record, your DMARC record for your custom domain will automatically be set up. What is a DMARC record? DMARC is an open email authentication protocol that helps protect email senders and recipients from advanced threats that can be the source of an email data breach. CNAME 5 is the name of the new authentication record that will set up your DMARC record automatically. What happens if I don't authenticate my domain? If your domain isn't authenticated, Wix automatically adds an authenticated Wix domain (e.g. wixemails.com). This helps with email deliverability. To remove the Wix signature, manually authenticate your domain by following the steps above. This article is credited to the Wix team - https://support.wix.com/ and we thank them for that! - Wix Multilingual: About Multilingual Subdomains | Wix Expert
< Back Creating a multilingual website SEO in Wix Multilingual Wix Multilingual: About Multilingual Subdomains In Wix Multilingual, you can choose to set your URL structure to be a subdomain. A subdomain uses your site's main URL and adds a language code before the domain name. An example of a subdomain URL is: https:// fr .mystunningwebsite.com Search engines consider each subdomain site as unique and distinct from your main site. This means that any search engine optimization on your main site may not benefit your subdomains and vice versa. For example, if your EN language site has a high ranking, your FR language site's ranking may not benefit from this. Tip: Learn how to switch your multilingual site's URL structure from subdomains to subdirectories or language parameters. Subdomains example If your website's primary language is English, and has French as a secondary language, the URL's will look like this: English version: mystunningwebsite.com French version: fr .mystunningwebsite.com Important: You can see the subdomain URLs with the relevant CNAME records in the DNS settings in your site's dashboard. Do not make changes to these records . Important information about multilingual subdomains You must have a domain connected to your multilingual site to get the language subdomains. You can purchase the domain from Wix , or purchase elsewhere and connect to Wix's name servers . Note: Wix cannot create multilingual subdomains if you connect your domain to Wix through pointing . If you have more than one domain connected to your site, the subdomain is connected to your primary domain. It can take up to 48 hours for a subdomain to propagate. Page URL's using a query parameter (e.g. www.mystunningwebsite.com/about?lang=fr) are still accessible, they simply redirect to the subdomain. There is a separate sitemap for each subdomain. There is a separate robots.txt file for each subdomain which includes a reference to the corresponding sitemap.xml file (e.g. sitemap.xml of the relevant language). If you don't want people to reach a specific subdomain, delete the language in the multilingual dashboard. - Wix Online Programs: About Automations for Your Program | Wix Expert
< Back Managing your business Business solutions & apps Wix Online Programs: About Automations for Your Program Boost your site's success with minimal effort by creating automations to manage your program. Automations streamline repetitive tasks and help you hit your marketing targets. Think of them as a combination of triggers and actions—like sending a welcome email when someone joins your program. You can use built-in triggers and actions, or customize your own. Ready to create automations for your program? Go to Automations in your site's dashboard. Preinstalled Automations When you a dd Online Programs to your site, some automations are preinstalled to help everything run smoothly. These include notifications sent to participants, for example, when a join request is approved, and notifications sent to you, for example, when someone completes a program. This helps you save time and stay on top of program activity. Learn to view and manage preinstalled automations . Note: The pre-installed Remind participants to complete steps automation includes 2 actions: Send an email and Send a push notification. You can control each action separately or remove one if it's not relevant to your program. Custom Automations Choose a trigger Select the Online Programs app in the automation flow to see its triggers. A trigger is an event that a member or participant does involving your program. This event initiates an automatic response. You can choose from a list of available triggers and select specific programs. For example, you can remove a participant when they complete a self-paced program. To do so, use the trigger "Participant completes the program". Add a delay of 3 days, and the action "Remove participant", for a specific program. The built-in triggers for Online Programs are: Member pays for a program Member joins a program Participant completes a step Participant leaves a program Participant completes a program Member's join request declined Member invited to join a program Reminder to complete steps Member's join request approved Offline payment declined Program ended without all steps completed Certificate available to download Program end date has passed Payment failed Participant manually added to program Choose an action Select actions that respond to your trigger. You can choose general actions like sending an email or updating Google Sheets . You can also use the specific Online Programs action: Remove a participant. For example: Combine "Program end date has passed" with the action "Remove participant". This will remove participants from a program when it ends. Participants that are removed by an automation are labeled as Auto-Removed. FAQs Click a question below to learn more. How does the reminder to complete steps automation work? The reminder to complete steps automation only works for scheduled programs that have a fixed start date. Every day at 09:00 (site’s local time), the system checks the program calendar. If any steps are scheduled for that day, it sends the reminder email and push notification . It does not check whether a participant actually completed those steps, and it does not run for time‑limited self‑paced programs, even if content dripping is enabled. Why aren’t participants receiving push notifications for daily reminders? Push notifications for daily reminders are sent through the pre-installed Remind participants to complete steps automation. If participants are not receiving them, check the following: • You edited the pre-installed automation: If you previously edited the original automation, the Send a push notification action may not be included. Revert the automation to restore the default setup. • You duplicated the pre-installed automation: If you created a custom version by duplicating the original automation, the Send a push notification action may not be included. Create a new automation to add it. To check whether the automation is set up correctly, open the Automations tab in your site's dashboard. It should include 2 actions: Send an email and Send a push notification . How do I select the members or participants who initiated a trigger for a new action? Some triggers pass the Contact ID of the member or participant who triggered the automation. You can use this Contact ID in your action so the automation only affects that person. For example, to add someone to a group when they join a program: Create an automation with the Member joins a program trigger. Add the Invite to a group action. In the Contact ID field, open the dropdown and select Contact ID . When you select Contact ID, the automation uses the contact from the trigger. The same logic applies to other actions that let you choose a contact, such as Send an email or Send a push notification . How can I manage or edit my program automations? You manage all of your program automations from the Wix Automations tab in your site’s dashboard. From there, you can turn automations on or off, change the trigger or action, and delete any automations you no longer need. Learn more about managing your automations .
