  • Studio Editor: Troubleshooting Gaps and Horizontal Scroll Bars | Wix Expert

< Back Studio, Partners & Enterprise Wix Studio Studio Editor: Troubleshooting Gaps and Horizontal Scroll Bars While building a site in the Studio Editor, you may notice unwanted gaps and horizontal scroll bars. Use the steps in this article to learn what you should check, and ensure that they don't appear to visitors on any screen size. Step 1 | Find and re-position elements in the Layers panel If an element is outside its section boundaries, a blank gap is automatically created to make the element fully visible. Use the Layers panel to see a list of your page elements, and click each one to check and re-position them as needed. To find and re-position elements in the Layers panel: Click Layers on the left side of the editor. Select an element to find it on the page. Re-position the element using the following tools: Drag and drop it to the right place. Use the handles to decrease the size of the element. Adjust the margins or resize the element from the Inspector panel . Step 2 | Check the page edges While an element may be positioned inside a section, its edges could still cross the page's boundaries and create a white gap and / or a horizontal scroll bar. This often happens with text elements. Click each section and hover over all of the elements close to the edges of the page. If any of them are overflowing, you can move or resize them as needed. Step 3 | Change the Overflow Content setting of the page You can hide a page's overflow content to prevent white gaps and horizontal scroll bars from automatically being displayed on the page. This setting "clips" the edges of the page, so any overflowing elements (or parts of elements) are cropped. To change the overflow content setting: Select the page layer: Go to the relevant page. Click Layers on the left side of the editor. Click Page . Click the Open Inspector icon at the top right of the editor. Click the Design tab . Select Hide from the Overflow content drop-down. Step 4 | Check the section's height The height and / or minimum height you set for a section or CSS Grid may create a gap. If you're using the 'Fit to screen' behavior, or the vh measurement (which is relative to the viewport height), the gap may appear bigger on larger screens. You can use the Inspector panel to check the CSS Grid and section's sizing, and change their height and / or minimum height as needed. To check the section's height: Select the relevant section. Click the Open Inspector icon at the top right of the editor. Check and adjust Height and Min H settings under Size . Troubleshooting If you’re still seeing unwanted gaps on your client's live site, learn what else you can do to remove them or check out this video tutorial to troubleshoot the issue. • Tax Collection: An Overview | Wix Expert

< Back Managing your business Accepting payments on your site Tax Collection: An Overview Important: This tax solution is currently available for Wix Stores, Wix Bookings, Wix Restaurants Orders (New) orders, Wix Donations, and is in the process of becoming available for Pricing Plans. Using a different app? Click an option below: Wix Events Pricing Plans Wix Hotels or HotelRunner Original Wix Restaurants solution Mobile POS or Wix POS Register Whether it's called sales tax, value-added tax (VAT) or something else, the idea is the same. When a customer buys an item - if needed - the merchant collects tax. They must then remit (pass along) the tax they collected to the local tax authority. Before you start setting up tax, we suggest you take the time to figure out which tax rules apply to your particular business. That way, you won't tax your customers unnecessarily or fail to collect taxes from those you are supposed to collect from. Important considerations Tax locations: Different tax rules apply in different locations. Consult with an accountant or with your local tax authority for specific information relevant for your business. Tax changes: Tax regulations change from time to time. Make sure to check for updates. Merchant accounts: If you previously set up tax (and shipping) in a merchant account (e.g. in PayPal), remove these settings before starting. Step 1 | Figure out who you need to collect tax from In most cases, you're required to collect taxes from: Customers in your location: This means customers located in a region where you have a physical presence, including where you have: A business registered with tax authorities A physical brick and mortar business An office An employee Customers in locations where you passed a minimum threshold: In some places, merchants are required to collect tax in a location if they exceed a certain threshold of sales (in money or in the number of transactions). In most cases, if you only have an online business with no other physical presence, you'll only need to collect taxes from your location (e.g. your U.S. state, your own country or state, province, etc.) Step 2 | Select manual or automatic tax To get started, go to your site's tax settings. Show me how to access my tax settings Go to your site's dashboard . Click Settings . Select Tax . Wix offers two methods of tax collection. You can set tax rates manually or automate tax collection using Avalara. Automatic tax collection with Avalara Avalara is a third-party app that calculates tax based on up-to-date tax rules. When rates change, your tax updates automatically. Learn more about automatic tax collection . Note: Avalara is available for use in sites that have upgraded to a Premium plan or Studio plan that supports automated sales tax. Calculating tax with Avalara is not currently available for users in Brazil and India. Manual tax collection With manual calculation, you select the location or locations where you need to collect tax and manually enter the relevant tax rates. If the rates changes, it's up to you to update it. Learn more about setting up manual tax calculation . Step 3 | (Optional) Create tax groups If you sell items that are taxed at different rates, you can create tax groups to stay in compliance with local tax regulations. For example, if the default tax rate in your location is 10%, but children's clothes are tax free, you can set up a tax group for children's clothes and assign it a 0% rate. You can create tax groups whether you're managing tax manually or using the automatic method. Learn more about creating tax groups with Avalara . Learn more about creating tax groups using manual tax calculation . Step 4 | Include tax in the price or add it at checkout In some countries, such as the US, price tags show only the price of the item itself - the tax is added during checkout. In other countries, the price already includes tax. Learn how to select whether you want to include tax in your price . • Wix Contacts: Troubleshooting Contact Importing Issues | Wix Expert

< Back Managing your business Managing your customers Wix Contacts: Troubleshooting Contact Importing Issues If you are having trouble importing contacts to your Wix account using a CSV file, see our solutions below. You may encounter different issues depending on how you have set up and saved your import file. What should I know when setting up my import file? Keep the following in mind when setting up your import file: Include a header row in your file and match each column header with a field. You can include values for any of the default fields in your contact list or custom properties. Make sure each row in your file contains an email address or phone number. Make sure your import file contains fewer than 20,000 contacts. Make sure any date fields are in the following format: YYYY-MM-DD. Make sure your file is a CSV file in UTF-8 encoding . Make sure your file does not have more than 200 columns. Note about the supported value separators and escape characters: The current supported value separators are a comma ',' and a semicolon ';'. The current supported escape characters are the double-quote character "" and the backslash character '\'. For example, the value the "big" bang will be correctly imported if it appears in the file as the ""big"" bang, or the \"big"\ bang. Tip: We recommend you download a sample CSV file to learn more about how your file should look. Troubleshooting specific issues and error messages Experiencing issues during or after importing a file? Click an issue below to learn the possible cause and how to resolve it. Receiving an error message about missing email or phone If you've added your contact's phone number and email address to the CSV file but still receive this error, you should verify that the email address is in the correct format: email@email.com. Receiving an error message about duplicate contacts When you receive this error, it means your file includes multiple contacts with the same email address. In this case, we only import the first one on your list. Make sure every email address only appears once to avoid this error. Receiving an error message about rows with extra values If you receive the error "Row has extra values that don't align with column headers", check if the extra value should go under a titled column. For example, if a phone number appears in an untitled column, you may want to move it to be under the column titled 'Phone'. Untitled columns will be flagged in the Match step, so you can choose if to match them to existing contact fields, not to import, or create a new custom field. Contacts with non-Latin characters imported incorrectly If your contacts include information in a foreign language with non-Latin characters, such as Japanese, Korean, Hebrew, Hindi, Arabic and others, your CSV file may not upload correctly. This is often caused by saving the CSV in an incorrect format. To ensure non-Latin characters are properly imported, your file must be saved as "comma -separated". Upload your CSV file to Google Spreadsheets . Click File , then Download As . Select Comma-separated values . Note: Do not open the file. Import your contacts following these instructions . Note: Not all Microsoft Excel versions have this option. Deleted contact information re-appearing in your contact list If you deleted a contact and imported a CSV file with a field that includes that same contact's email or phone number (which are unique fields), previously deleted information will appear in your Contact list (even if it's not in your file). To resolve this issue, contact Customer Care . Troubleshooting file formatting issues Re-saving your file and using the Wix sample file may solve issues that often occur when creating the CSV file in Numbers on Mac, Excel, or Google Sheets. Common error messages resulting from this transition: There is an empty field in the first row. To continue, match the email or phone fields to the correct Wix Contact fields. Unable to Download Your File. File must be spreadsheet in CSV format. You may also notice that your file looks like this when you open it - your data is not separated into columns, but separated by a semicolon: Try any of the following to resolve formatting issues in your file: Download a CSV file from Google Sheets Go to Google Sheets. Click File , Open , then select your current CSV file from your computer. 3. Once your existing file is loaded (each column should be divided into correct columns), click "File", "Download", "Comma Separated Values (.csv)". You can now use this CSV to import your contacts. Copy your contact information into the Wix sample CSV file 1. Download the Wix sample file. 2. Open the file in Google Sheets. 3. Copy-paste information from original file to sample file. 4. Download file as Comma Separated Values (.csv). This article is credited to the Wix team - https://support.wix.com/ and we thank them for that! Previous Next Need An AI Run Website? Contact Us Today!
