  • Email Marketing: About Email Throttling | Wix Expert

< Back Promoting your site Sending email marketing campaigns Email Marketing: About Email Throttling If you send an email campaign and notice some contacts haven't received it, make sure that your recipient list is updated and maintained. If there are issues with spam complaints or emails bouncing back, it could result in a slowed campaign distribution known as 'email throttling'. Tip: Check out the Wix Email Marketing best practices article for more helpful tips on sending your campaigns. About email throttling Email throttling is part of an email marketing abuse detection system used to identify spam or harmful campaigns. When you send a campaign, the system reviews it for potential issues or harmful content. These issues include: A large chunk of emails bouncing back to the sender Multiple complaints or reports of spam Emails falling into spam-traps and hitting spam folders Little to no engagement from your email list If the abuse detection system finds an issue with your campaign, it slows the rate at which the campaign is distributed and delivered to your recipients. The deliberate slowdown of email distribution in order to prevent potential spam is known as 'email throttling'. How email throttling affects your campaign Email throttling protects your contacts from spam by checking the responses from the first batch of campaign recipients before potentially decreasing the emails sent in the second batch. In some cases, email throttling can also cut off distribution altogether. This means if your contact list is full of the issues mentioned above, some recipients may not receive your campaign for 24 or even 48 hours. If the system notices issues still occurring, even after the email throttling, it can end the campaign altogether. Any emails remaining in the queue will not be sent. Preventing email throttling As long as your contact list is maintained and updated regularly, you should be fine. Make sure you are following email marketing best practices like: Getting explicit consent from every recipient to send them emails Not including any suspicious or prohibited content Cleaning your list every six months to make sure all its email addresses are still valid This article is credited to the Wix team - https://support.wix.com/ and we thank them for that! • Wix Site Members: About the Member Signup and Login Forms | Wix Expert

< Back Managing your business Building your community Wix Site Members: About the Member Signup and Login Forms Note: This article refers to the new version of the member signup and login forms. The Member Authentication app includes the pages and popups your visitors and members see during signup, login, email confirmation, and password recovery. These screens help people complete important access and security steps on your site. Help visitors join and return The signup form lets visitors create a member account, and the login form lets existing members access members-only areas again. Members can sign up or log in with their email and password. You can also let them continue with a social account such as Google or Facebook. Both forms open as popups on your live site, so people can complete the action without leaving the page they are viewing. Ready to start? Add and set up the Member Authentication app . Match the forms to your site’s design The signup and login forms use your site’s design as a starting point, and you can customize them further to suit your brand. Update elements such as the layout, colors, fonts, title, and subtitle to create a more consistent member experience. You can customize the text and design of each one, including Access Restricted, Pending Approval, Email Confirmation, Reset Password, Create New Password, and Expired Reset Link. You only need to customize the design once, and the changes apply to both the signup and login forms. You can still choose different fields and options for each form. For example, your signup form can include a birthday field, while your login form can show only a 'Sign in with Google' button. Learn how to manage the content and settings of your signup and login forms Collect the right details when someone signs up You can choose which fields appear on the signup form so new members provide the information that matters to your business. This helps you keep registration simple while still collecting the details you need. The signup form also includes a privacy notice when someone registers. By default, it explains that their profile is public and that they can change this later in their profile settings. You can add your terms of use and privacy policy to the signup form and decide how the consent message appears. You can show it as a checkbox that people must select, or as a note below the form. Protect your site and control access You can add Google reCAPTCHA to the signup and login forms to help reduce spam registrations and automated login attempts. You can also manage broader signup settings, such as who can become a member, default profile privacy, and site access rules. These settings are managed from the Site Member Settings and Manage Member Access pages , giving you more control over how people join and use your members area. • Best Practices for Accepting Card Payments | Wix Expert

< Back Managing your business Accepting payments on your site Best Practices for Accepting Card Payments When you accept a credit card purchase, there is always a chance that the card or card information was stolen and is now being used for fraud. It’s also possible the buyer would try to abuse the chargeback mechanism and make a false claim. At Wix, we work hard to protect our merchants from fraudulent behavior. However you, as a merchant, are always the best line of defense against fraud, since you are fully aware of all that is happening with a particular order and buyer. Recognizing possible fraud Fraudsters often use sophisticated techniques to achieve their goals, and they generally operate in 2 ways: By illegally obtaining goods without paying for them By deceiving the merchant to illegally obtain funds There are a number of tell-tale signs that fraud may be in play. To minimize risks and possible chargebacks while accepting online orders, please review the following potential red flags. If you notice any of the behavior below, you should consider taking an extra step to be assured that your customer is not fraudulent. Be wary of: Bulk orders : Large orders on goods that have high resale value (sneakers, electronics, designers’ handbags, etc). Large repeated orders on such items also pose a high risk. Card processing behaviors: Multiple lost or stolen declines, or multiple attempts from different cards. It is unlikely that one customer will have 6 or more cards. Likewise, beware of cases where customers ask to split the payment into 2 or more instalments, especially using different cards. Unusual shipping behavior: Be wary if shipping is overpriced in comparison to the value of goods; if your customer insists on a rush-shipping option without sign-on delivery; or shipping to forwarding companies that provide reshipping to "third countries". 3rd party payment requests : Avoid requests to pay for special “vendor” services that you do not offer (such as door-to-door delivery, custom shipping, catering or event planning). These may be Western Union, Zelle, Cash App or similar money transfer requests. Any 3rd party requests are often indicative of a scam. Please be aware that such payments are final. Likewise, do not issue refund requests via these payment methods. Use the original payment method provided by your customer. If you face any of these red flags, we recommend some additional buyer verification checks. These can include a government-issued ID request, a telephone call, or a check via Zoom. Also, make sure that the order type you are handling correlates with your regular business practices. You always have an option to cancel the order and refund the initial payment if you spot behavior that may be considered fraudulent Handling offline card payments Offline card payments fall into 2 categories: Customer present : The customer is standing in front of your POS reader and inserts/taps/swipes their card Manual Card Entry : The customer is sharing their payment details with you, and you are inputting them via a POS terminal. This may be with, or without, face to face contact. When it comes to customer-present transactions, please make sure that you use an EMV chip whenever possible. This is the chip visible on most modern credit / debit cards. ‘ Liability shift ’ will protect you as a merchant in most cases by using EMV, along with awareness of the fraud patterns listed above. Consider asking for a government-issued ID or another payment method if you have doubts about the buyer. In a case where the card is not working because of its poor condition, it's preferable to ask for another payment method, rather than input the card details manually. Fraudsters may spoil counterfeit cards on purpose to make you use the card via a manual input terminal, due to the low fraud protection of manually entered card payments. Manual Card Entry transactions are the most high-risk way of accepting payments. You should accept this method only from trusted clients, or when the fraudsters are not attracted to your business due to its nature (a kindergarten, or a kids summer camp, for example; or items with a low resale value). Remember, when it comes to chargebacks for manual input payments, the liability shift is most likely to be on the merchant's side. Therefore, it is difficult to win a dispute against such chargebacks. This article is credited to the Wix team - https://support.wix.com/ and we thank them for that! • Wix Stores: Adding and Setting Up the Wix Checkout Requirements App | Wix Expert

< Back Managing your business Business solutions & apps Wix Stores: Adding and Setting Up the Wix Checkout Requirements App With the Checkout Requirements app, you can take control over what requirements need to be fulfilled before a customer can complete checkout. You can use the app to create 3 different types of requirements: Add a minimum quantity of products requirement: Prevent customers from purchasing too few of a specific item (e.g. minimum purchase is 3 vanilla candles). Add a maximum quantity of products requirement: Prevent customers from purchasing too many of a specific item (e.g. Purchase of vases is limited to one per order). Add a minimum order subtotal requirement: Orders must reach a minimum of $100. Check out some examples of how the checkout requirement can be used in the FAQs below. After creating one or more checkout requirements, you can easily activate or deactivate them with a click. Step 1 | Add the Checkout Requirements app To get started, go to the Wix App Market and add the Checkout Requirements app. Wix Editor Go to your editor . Click Add Apps on the left side of the editor. Search for the Wix Checkout Requirements app in the search bar. Click Add to Site . Click Go to Dashboard . Studio Editor Go to your editor . Click App Market on the left side of the editor. Click App Market . Search for the Wix Checkout Requirements app in the search bar. Click Add to Site . Click Go to Dashboard . Harmony Editor Go to your editor . Click + Add at the top left of the editor. Click the Arrow icon to navigate to the Apps category. Click Wix App Market at the bottom left. Search for the Wix Checkout Requirements app, then select the app. Click Add to Site . Dashboard Go to the Wix App Market in your site's dashboard. Search for the Wix Checkout Requirements app in the search bar. Click Add to Site . Step 2 | Create a checkout requirement Now that you've added the app, go to your site's dashboard and create your first requirement. You can create a single requirement or multiple ones. For example, you can create a requirement that ensures that customers must buy at least 2 candles and another requirement limiting the purchase of candles to 10 per order. To create a checkout requirement: Go to Checkout Requirements in your site's dashboard. Click Add Requirement . Enter a requirement name (e.g. 2-candle minimum). Note: Customers won't see this name. Select the type of requirement you want to create: Minimum quantity of products Maximum quantity of products Minimum order subtotal Enter the required quantity/subtotal. If you selected, minimum or maximum quantity of products, select what the requirement applies to: Specific products: Only specific product(s) count towards the minimum or maximum (e.g. if you set a 2-product minimum, customers must buy 2 of each of the specific products you select). All products: The requirement applies separately to each product (e.g. if you set a 2-product minimum, customers must buy 2 of each product they buy, not 2 products from your shop). If you selected Specific products in step 6, select those products. Tip: Start typing the product name and select it from the list. Choose what happens if customers don't meet the requirement: Yes, enable checkout but show a warning message: Customers see your message explaining the requirement, but can still complete a purchase. No, disable checkout and show error message: Customers see your message explaining why they can't complete the purchase and cannot complete a purchase. Enter the message text you want your customers to see. Tip: Make sure the message is clear and specific so that customers know what to do (see FAQ below). FAQs Click a question below to learn more about the app. Where do customers see indications that they haven't met a requirement? Customers see an indication that they haven't met a requirement on the Cart page. If the customer gets to the Checkout page (e.g. by using the 'Buy Now' button or because you haven't disabled checkout) they see an additional message there. What kind of message should I display to my customers? Make sure your message conveys to customers what they need to do - especially if you disabled the checkout option. For example: Order must total $100 or more. You must purchase a minimum of 100 items. Sale of this special-release item is limited to one per customer. Add an additional hat to the cart to checkout. Tip: After setting up your minimum requirements and composing your message, go to your live site and try adding relevant products to your cart as though you were a customer to check if your messages are clear. How can I activate or deactivate a requirement Go to the Checkout Requirements page and click the Status toggle to active or deactivate it. Can I make changes to a requirement I already created? Yes. Go to the Checkout Requirements page, click the More Actions icon and click Edit . Tip: If you change a requirement, make sure to update the message text so customers know what to expect. What are some examples of how checkout requirements are applied? Here are some examples of checkout requirements and how they affect customers. Minimum 2 candles example: This merchant wanted to make sure that any customer purchasing a candle bought at least 2 of that candle. They created a 2-candle minimum and added all their candles as specific products during setup. When a customer adds 1 bergamot candle and 1 beeswax candle to the cart, they'll see your message that they need to purchase 2 of each of these to proceed. Note: Checkout will either be blocked or not, depending on what you selected when creating the requirement. Maximum 1 per customer example: This merchant wanted to make sure customers limited the purchase of a specific sale rug to 1 per order. Customers can still purchase multiple rugs. However, they can only purchase one of the rug for which a maximum quantity was set. Note: Checkout will either be blocked or not, depending on what you selected when creating the requirement.
