Feature updates Updates to iFrames and Custom Elements In order to improve the security of apps and components on Wix sites, we're planning to implement sandboxing on January 1st, 2025. This update may affect the function of some code in custom elements and iFrames. Select a question to learn more about this update. What does this update mean? Sandboxing is a feature that restricts access to content / certain storage areas in an element. With this update, access to certain storage areas in iFrames and custom elements (e.g. sessionStorage, cookies, cache etc.) will be limited - meaning they won't be as easily accessed by apps. This change will impact the function of apps / components in your editor (Wix Editor or Studio Editor), and in Preview mode. Do I need to make any changes? While it's not possible to switch to a different template for a site you already created, you can create as many sites as you want in your account. This means you can start over with a new template at any point. Once you have chosen your new template, you can import elements, pages and media from your old site, and transfer your plan and domain to it. Step 1: Choose your new template Get started by selecting a new template from our huge range of professionally designed templates. There are a variety of options and categories available including portfolio sites, business services, eCommerce templates and more, so you can choose the best style for your brand needs. Site Files folders can be accessed from the Media Manager from all the sites in your account. You should know: The desktop and mobile versions of your site represent different viewing modes of the same site; they are not separate sites. Typically, these warnings are incorrect identifications; or what is called a “false positive”. A false positive occurs when a security system, such as antivirus software, mistakenly identifies something as a threat, though it is actually safe. Click an issue below to find out how to resolve it: Misconfigured DNS records When DNS records are not set up correctly, they might trigger alerts that incorrectly flag a site as potentially harmful. To ensure that your DNS records are properly configured, visit the Wix Domain Assistant . Once your DNS configurations are corrected, the false positive warnings should be resolved. Note : Allow 48hrs for your updated DNS records to propagate. Domain propagation If you recently updated your domain’s DNS records, then your domain may be in a propagation period. This can take up to 48 hours to complete. During this time, your site may not be accessible from all devices, or may appear as insecure. As soon as propagation is complete, your site will be accessible and secure worldwide. Domain reputation Sometimes a domain is used to distribute malware or for phishing attacks, then later it becomes available again for anyone to purchase and register. You can use the following publicly available tools in order to check the reputation of your domain and website: Google Transparency Report VirusTotal If any vendors from VirusTotal or Google report your site as malicious, you can report these false positives directly to the respective vendors. Once the detections are lifted, your website will load as expected. You can report false positives by visiting Virus Total False Positive Contacts . Incorrect AV software detection Antivirus programs have a fairly broad set of criteria for deciding whether or not a file or site is safe, and no antivirus program is 100% immune to false positives. In order to resolve the false positive warning you are encountering, please go to the Settings within your antivirus software and add your website, including Wix.com, to the whitelist (allow list). To do so: Type "add website to whitelist (antivirus software provider name)" into your search engine. Click the support page for your antivirus software provider and follow the given instructions. Strict network security measures Public and private networks often implement specific security protocols to protect sensitive information and maintain the integrity of their systems. As a result, access to certain URLs - including Wix servers and sites - may be restricted. These scalable illustrations and icons (SVGs) maintain perfect quality at any size, making them ideal for responsive sites. Choose from Wix Studio’s library of free vector art and basic shapes, or upload your own SVGs to align with your client’s brand. Tip: Vector art files often include multiple colors, while basic shapes focus on a single color. However, they're both SVG files. Adding vector art and basic shapes You can use vector art and basic shapes to decorate your client's site, or as an appealing call-to-action. You can either choose from the hundreds of free options available from Wix Studio, or you can upload your own. Click an option below to learn more. If we are not able to identify the colors in your SVG file, you may not be able to customize the colors in the editor. Adjusting the settings of basic shapes and vector art Tweak the vector art or basic shape settings to your liking. Add a link to turn the element into a button and add alt text to make it accessible. Additionally, you can ensure the element keeps its original proportions when resizing, or decide that you want to resize it freely. To adjust the settings: Go to your editor . Select the relevant vector art or basic shape element. Click the Settings icon . Choose what to do next: Want to add a link?: Add a link to the vector art / basic shape. What's this shape / What's in the vector art?: Enter a short description of what you can see in this vector art or basic shape, to help search engines and accessibility tools. Keep original proportions: Enable this toggle to ensure the element's original proportions are maintained when you resize it.
