Wix Stores: Creating Promo Cards

Important:

Promo cards are a feature of the new Wix Stores product catalog. If you don't see Promo cards in your dashboard, you may be on the previous version. Request migration to the new product catalog to access this feature.

Promo cards, also known as content cards or promo tiles, let you place promotional content directly in your Category page or grid gallery. You can use them to highlight sales, feature collections or services, and display editorial content, such as shopping guides.

Creating promo cards

Promo cards are created and managed in your dashboard. From there, you can assign them to relevant categories and specify an exact placement.

Tip:

Use the same aspect ratio for your promo cards as the product images in the relevant element.

To create promo cards:

  1. Go to Promo Cards in your site's dashboard.

  2. Click Add Promo Card.

  3. Enter a name in the Promo card name field.

  4. In the Media section, click the Add icon

  5. (Optional) Enter the URL that opens when a visitor clicks the promo card.

  6. Click + Assign Categories.

  7. Select one or more categories where you want the promo card to appear and click Assign.

Tip: You can select a parent category and choose whether you want to include all of its subcategories.

  8. Set the promo card's position among the products in each relevant category (i.e. if you select 3, the card appears as the 3rd item in the grid).

  9. Click the Excluded / Included toggle to show or hide the promo card in subcategories.

FAQs

Promo cards are currently available in the Category page and grid gallery.

You can use promo cards to highlight sales, promote collections, feature services, or display editorial content such as shopping guides.

We recommend using the same aspect ratio (image ratio) as the images in the relevant element. For example, if you plan to display the promo card in your category page, go to the category page settings in your editor and select the Layout tab. There, in the Product images section, you can see the aspect ratio.

Note: You can follow the same instructions in a grid gallery.

There are a few reasons your promo card might not appear on the storefront.

  • Promo card is inactive: The promo card's status is set to inactive. Check the Status toggle on the promo card page.

  • Too few products: The category has fewer products than the position you set. For example, you set position 5 but the category only has 3 products.

  • Filter applied: Promo cards are hidden when a filter is applied to a gallery. They reappear when the filter is removed.

Promo card tags help you organize and reuse your promo cards more easily. For example, you can add a 'Valentine’s' tag to any promo cards related to that holiday. Later, you can use the tag to filter all your promo cards and quickly find the ones you need.

Yes. You can assign a promo card to one or more categories so the same content appears in multiple places in your store. Additionally, by enabling the toggle, you can assign a promo card to all subcategories under the category you chose.

You can add tags to promo cards to help organize and filter them in your dashboard. For example, you can tag all your holiday promo cards to group them together and make it easier to find the right one next time the same holiday rolls around.
