What are the benefits of the import/export process?
There are several benefits to importing and exporting your content for translation purposes, but the main benefit overall is that you decide (based on your level of comfort), if you want to translate the content manually yourself, or send it to someone else.
Why do I get an error when importing a CSV file with fields that contain code or special formatting?
Some fields, like rich content fields, store data as JSON objects. Editing these fields directly in the CSV often disrupts the JSON structure, causing import errors. Unless you’re experienced with JSON formatting, it's best not to translate these fields directly in the CSV.
To avoid errors, use the Translation Manager for rich content fields. Look for the Edit translation link in the Translation Manager, which opens a rich content editor. This editor ensures the JSON formatting is correct so you can import your file without issues.
What can cause the import process to fail?
The import process might fail for several reasons. Check the following:
Your file is saved in the CSV format.
You haven’t made changes to the “ID” column in the file.
Rich content fields (with JSON code) are translated using the Translation Manager to maintain proper formatting.
Why do I see more than one language in the exported file?
Each exported file contains two languages: the first column includes the content in your Source language, this is your original language (you shouldn’t edit this) and the second column (marked Target language) where you can edit the translation in your target language.
I do not see any new translations, what is the reason?
The issue is likely caused by one of the following:
You added the translated content to the wrong language.
Changes to the “ID” column in the CSV file.
The last column "Target Language" is empty.
What can I do if my file does not download?
If a download didn’t start, press the “Download File” button in the green banner that appears at the top of your screen.

Is it possible to override content?
Yes, when you import your newly translated content, any fields in the translated language column where you entered content, will override existing content in Wix Multilingual for that specific language.
Tip: If you wish not to override a specific piece of content, simply leave the field column empty in the file.
Is there any site content that cannot be exported?
Yes, the exported content doesn’t include content from non-integrated business solutions and Third-party apps. Learn more about translatable content.
Can you export/import more than one target language at a time?
No, the export/import process works on a language level. Meaning, you can only export one target language per file.
What happens if I have existing translations in my target language?
The exported file also contains any existing translations in the target language, if they exist. This means that your CSV file will contain both new and existing translations in your target language.
