Wix Multilingual: Automatically Showing Your Site to Visitors in the Language of their Browser
Warning:
Activating language auto-switch is not recommended for search engines and will harm your site’s SEO if you are relying on organic traffic. Learn more in the FAQs section.
Automatically show visitors the language version of your site that matches their browser's language. This will help your site visitors explore your site in their local language. For example, if your site has a German version and a site visitor has their browser set to German, they're automatically rerouted to see your site in their preferred language.
Important:
If you enabled the Wix cookie consent banner, your site visitors won't be able to manually change the language to one different from their browser's default until they accept the cookie banner.

FAQs
Click a question below to learn more.
Why can't I see the auto-switch toggle?
This feature is only available if you have at least one active secondary language in Wix Multilingual. Make sure your language is visible in the Multilingual dashboard.
How is my site's SEO affected by this setting?
Automatic browser-language redirects are not SEO-friendly. They harm search engines' ability to discover and understand your site. For example, the Googlebot crawler usually originates from the USA and will only crawl the English version of your site for search results. Learn more about multilingual sites from Google.
What happens if my site doesn't support the visitor's browser language?
If you didn't add the relevant language to your site, the visitor will see your site's main language version, and can manually switch languages from the menu.
Can my site visitors still access different language versions of my site?
Yes, your site visitors can still access different language versions of your site. Even if you redirect them based on their browser's default language, or delete the language menu, visitors can still type the URL with a language code (like fr.wix.com or wix.com /fr) to reach other language versions of your site.
