Wix Mobile Apps: Submitting Your App for Approval

Once you register your Apple and Google Developer accounts and add your store listing information, the final step is to submit your app for approval. When you submit your app, Wix conducts an internal review. After Wix approves your app, we forward it to Apple and Google for their review. Once they approve it, your app can go live in their stores.

Google's requirement:

As part of their submission process, Google requires an additional 14-day closed testing review of your app after Wix submits it.

Submitting your app

Complete all steps in your mobile app dashboard before you submit your app for review. All branding and design of your app must be finalized before you submit. If you make changes after submitting your app, you may be required to resubmit it again.

To submit your app:

  1. Go to Mobile App in your dashboard.

  2. Click the tab with the name of your own mobile app.

  3. Follow the steps in the Let's set up your app to submit it and get it live in stores section.

  4. Click Submit to submit your app to Wix for approval. Once you submit, you can't make changes until the review process is complete.

Note: If you are unable to click Submit, it means you haven't completed all the setup steps.

  1. Click Submit in the pop-up window to confirm.

Important:

Once Google initially approves your app, you need to complete additional steps before resubmitting your app for approval. When your app is ready to be resubmitted, a notification will pop up on your dashboard.

  1. Go to Mobile App in your site's dashboard.

  2. Click the tab with the name of your own mobile app.

  3. Click the Fix issue drop-down and follow the steps for Google's quality assessment, answering questions about different aspects of your app: the closed test, app details, and production readiness.

Note: Wix provides the answers for you to copy.

  4. Click Resubmit.

Viewing your submission status

You can track your submission status in the Mobile App Overview section of your Mobile App dashboard. The labels beneath the App Store and Google Play Store show the progress of your submission. When your app is available, the status changes from In Review to Approved. Once the app is approved, you can see the version number and click See in store to view it in the relevant store.

Resubmitting your app if it's rejected

If your app has been rejected by either Apple's App Store or the Google Play Store, you will get an email and a red Action Needed label appears beneath the relevant app store. You will also get rejection alerts in your dashboard and in the Wix app. Follow the steps in the relevant platform to resubmit for approval. Depending on why your app was rejected, you will see different steps to fix the issue.

To resubmit your app:

  1. Click the first Fix Issue drop-down under Steps to re-submit your app.

  2. Follow the instructions to fix the first issue. Once you've completed the instruction click Mark as Done.

  3. Repeat Steps 1-2 for each issue listed.

Steps of resubmitting your app.

  1. If one of the steps is titled 'Comments from the App Reviewer,' it means Wix has received comments from the relevant store that rejected your app. Click the drop-down to view the comments and write your answer in the text box. When you're finished click Mark as Done.

  2. Once all the steps to re-submit your app are complete click Submit at the bottom. The new version of the app will be submitted again for review.

  3. Click Submit in the pop-up window to confirm.

Note: You can track the status from your Mobile App dashboard.

For Google Play Store:

Once Wix approves your app, the final step is filling out a Google quality assessment in your Mobile App dashboard. Follow the steps in the Fix Issue drop-down to resubmit your app.

FAQs

Click below for answers to common questions about submitting your app for approval.

Wix reviews your app to ensure compliance with Apple and Google's guidelines. If any issues are found, we'll notify you to make any necessary changes. Once your app passes our review, we'll submit it to Apple and/or Google on your behalf. The review process may take a few days.

Note: Your mobile app is subject to Apple and Google's approval. Wix has no control over whether it will be approved or rejected. Google requires an additional 14-day closed testing review after submission.

The approval process varies from platform to platform and Wix has no control over the timeline.

As part of the Mobile App Premium plan, Wix takes care of your app's submission to the stores as well as the app's maintenance and compliance with any new policies. During this process you may receive emails from Apple and Google. These emails require no action from you.

Learn more about the emails you receive from Apple and Google.

If your application does not pass Apple or Google's review, Wix gets notified. We'll then inform you why your app has not been approved and ask you to make the necessary changes.

Wix Mobile Apps: Submitting Your App for Approval

Once you've made the changes, you'll have to resubmit your app to Wix for approval, and then again to Apple and Google.

Apps can be rejected for reasons like not meeting Apple or Google's guidelines, having incomplete info, or issues found during testing.

Common reasons include:

  • Policy violations: Not following platform rules (e.g. issues with your app's name).

  • Design problems: Poor user experience or not up to standards.

  • Bugs or crashes: Technical glitches during reviews.

  • Testing issues (Google-specific): Problems during Google’s closed testing phase.

If your app is rejected, Wix notifies you with details and guides you on fixing the issue and resubmitting. Read more about Apple and Google guidelines.

Once your app is live, we keep it current by handling updates for security, performance, and compliance with Apple and Google policies. Content or feature changes made via the Wix app are published instantly, but changes to design, branding, or store details require resubmission for approval. With the Mobile App Premium plan, Wix automatically submits updates every 2 weeks, including new features and bug fixes.

Once you submit your app for approval, you can't make changes until the review process is complete.

Your app shows as ‘In Review’ on Wix because you recently updated it and the app stores (like Apple or Google) are reviewing the new version before making it available. While this review is happening, your app’s previous version is still live and can be downloaded. Once the app stores approve your update, the status in Wix will change and your new version will become available.
