Wix Harmony Editor: Adding and Customizing Running Text

Bring your site to life with running text, an animated text element that highlights your message in motion. It’s a simple, code-free way to showcase updates, promos, or news and keep visitors engaged from the moment they land on your page.

Adding running text

Running text lets you add animated, scrolling messages to your site. It’s perfect for announcing sales, events, or important news, making updates impossible to miss. Choose a style, customize your message, and keep your site looking energetic and up to date.

To add running text:

G o to your editor.
Click + Add at the top left of the editor.
Select Elements.
Click the Text icon
on the left.
Select the Running text tab.
Drag a design you like onto your page.
Enter your text:
1. Click Edit Text on the action bar.
2. Enter your text under Text.

Tip:

While entering your text, you can add emojis using the relevant keyboard shortcut:

PC: Windows logo key + . (period)
Mac: Ctrl + Cmd + Space

Customizing running text

Bring your ideas to the forefront by making your running text truly yours. Pick a font that matches your style, add your brand’s colors, and set the mood with the scrolling direction and speed. With custom separators and flexible spacing, every detail can reflect your unique voice and capture your visitors’ attention.

To customize running text:

Go to your editor.
Click your running text.
Customize your running text using the available options:

Settings

Click the Settings icon
on the action bar.
Choose what you want to customize:
- Text: Enter the message you want to display.
- Movement direction: Select whether the text moves from left to right or right to left.
- Links to: Choose a link for your running text if you want it clickable.
- Pause on hover: Enable this toggle if you’d like the text to pause when visitors hover over it.
- Speed: Drag the slider to adjust how quickly the text moves.

Separator settings

Click Separator Settings on the action bar.
Choose what to do next:
- Change the separator icon:
  - Click the Replace icon
    to change the shape. You can choose from many different designs in the Media Manager, or upload your own SVG.
  - Click the Remove icon
    to delete the separator.
- Customize the separator icon:
  - Drag the Color & Opacity slider to adjust the color.
  - Drag the Separator Scale slider to set the icon size.

Text and Spacing

Click the All design options icon
on the action bar.
Choose what you want to do next:
- Click Text to design the text.
- Click Spacing to adjust the space between items. Drag the slider to make the gap wider or narrower.

What happens when visitors click the running text?

Visitors can pause / play the effect on the live site by clicking the text. This option is automatically enabled, and cannot be switched off. Adding a link to your text lets visitors click and go directly to the linked page or website.

What is the running text character limit?

You can enter up to 450 characters to your running text.
