Set up a Free Plan on Your Wix Site

Let customers try your services before committing to a full membership plan or package by creating a free promotional plan that customers can book only once.

Note:

• Clients who try to purchase the plan a second time receive a notice that the plan can only be purchased once.

• Alternatively, you can offer a free trial period at the start of a pricing plan.

Creating a free plan

Free plans are a great way for potential clients to get to know you and your business. You can choose whether you want to offer the plan for free or for a reduced price.

You can create a free plan from your site's dashboard, the Wix app, or the Studio app.

Dashboard

1. Go to Pricing Plans in your site's dashboard.

2. Click + Create Plan at the top right.

3. Enter your plan's details in the Plan Info section:

   1. Enter the plan name.

   2. Add a cover image to showcase on your plan.

   3. (Optional) Enter a tagline with a brief description of the plan.

   4. Add perks under Tell customers what the main features are (e.g. First month free):

      Note: What you enter here is what your clients see. It does not connect services or content to the plan (see the next step).

4. Scroll down to Benefits and select the checkbox next the services or content types you want to include.

5. Add the relevant details (e.g. the specific services that are included).

6. Select Free under Pricing strategy.

7. Choose the duration from the Length of Plan drop-down:

   • Monthly: Select each one individually.

   • Until canceled: Clients choose when they want to cancel.

   • Custom: Choose the duration of the plan from the Choose period drop-down (weeks, months, years) and enter the relevant number.

8. Choose when you want the plan to start:

9. Scroll down to Settings and choose how you want to adjust your free plan's settings:

Set purchase limits

Manage how your plan is purchased by setting limits on both active subscriptions per customer and the total number of times the plan can be sold overall.

1. Click Edit Limits.

2. Choose how to limit purchases for this plan:

   • Per-customer limits:

     1. Click the Limit how many times a customer can purchase this plan toggle and select the relevant option:

        • One active subscription at a time.

        • One purchase per customer (lifetime).

        • Limit purchases per customer. Then, enter the Maximum purchases per customer.

   • Per-plan limits:

     1. Click the toggle(s) next to the relevant option:

        • Limit active subscriptions. Then, enter the Maximum active subscriptions.

        • Limit total sold plans. The, enter the Maximum sold plans.

3. When ready, click Done.

Add a policy

Create a policy for your pricing plan that appears on the checkout page. This could include any legal requirements, details about your renewal policy, and so on.

Note: There is a 3,000-character limit for plan policies, which appear on the checkout page for customers.

To add a plan policy:

1. Click Add next to Add a policy.

2. Write your terms and conditions in the field provided.

3. (Optional) Enable the Policy checkbox toggle so clients have to agree to your terms and conditions before completing checkout.

4. (Optional) Enable the Checked by default toggle to automatically tick your policy checkbox for clients.

   Note: Make sure to check any legal requirements regarding policies, terms, and conditions in the country where you sell your plans.

5. Click Save.

7. Click Save at the top to finish creating your plan.

Wix app

Before you begin: Make sure you add Pricing Plans to the Wix app.

1. Go to your site in the Wix app.

2. Tap Manage

   

   at the bottom.

3. Tap Pricing Plans under Catalog.

4. Tap + Create New Plan at the bottom.

5. Enter your plan's details:

   1. Enter the plan name.

   2. (Optional) Enter a tagline with a brief description of the plan.

6. (Optional) List the Main Features (e.g. 24/7 gym access).

7. Select Free Plan.

8. Set the plan duration by tapping the Length of Plan drop-down and selecting when the plan expires.

9. Scroll down to Connect Benefits and tap the relevant services or content types you want to connect.

10. Decide how you want to adjust your free plan's settings under the Settings section:

Wix Studio app

1. Go to your site in the Wix Studio app.

2. Tap Manage.

3. Tap Pricing Plans under Catalog.

4. Tap + Create New Plan at the bottom.

5. Enter your plan's details:

   1. Enter the Plan name.

   2. (Optional) Enter a tagline with a brief description of the plan.

6. (Optional) List the Main Features (e.g. 24/7 gym access).

7. Select Free Plan.

8. Set the plan duration by tapping the Length of Plan drop-down and selecting when the plan expires.

9. Scroll down to Connect Benefits and tap the relevant services or content types you want to connect.

10. Enable the toggle below to choose your Settings for the plan:

    • Limit to 1 subscription per customer: Tap to enable the toggle to create a trial plan that can only be booked once per client.

    • Allow plan cancellation: Tap to enable the toggle to allow clients to cancel plans themselves in the My Subscriptions page.

    • Add a policy: Tap to enter policy information and tap Save. Note: The policy appears on the checkout page.

    • Collect additional info at checkout: Tap the relevant form and tap Save. Learn more about collecting additional info from customers at checkout. Note: You can only create and manage custom forms on desktop.

    • Customize the Thank You Page:

      1. Tap to customize the message and button text on your Thank You Page and then tap Save.

      2. Tap the relevant option to choose where to redirect your customers after checkout:

         • Home Page: Customers go straight to your home page after completing their purchase.

         • Other page: Enter the URL of the page.

      3. Tap Save.

11. Tap Save at the top right.

Notes:

• When clients subscribe to the free plan, they have instant access to its perks and benefits.

• During setup, the Let people choose their start date toggle is disabled since the plan is active immediately and does not require a payment.

• It is not possible to change the pricing strategy when there are active subscriptions.

Enabling guest checkout

You can allow visitors to your site to join your free plan without signing up or logging in. This is a great way to attract new clients who aren't sure they want to commit right away.

To enable guest checkout:

1. Go to Settings in your site's dashboard.

2. Click Pricing Plans Settings.

3. Click the Checkout tab at the top.

4. Enable the Guest Checkout toggle to let people buy a plan without signing up to your website.

5. Click Save.
