Recovering an Expired Domain During the Redemption Period
When a domain expires (usually because auto-renew was turned off or a renewal payment has failed), it enters a grace period lasting about 30 days. During this time, you can renew your domain at no additional cost.
If you do not restore your domain d uring the grace period, it enters the redemption period. You can still recover your expired domain during the redemption period, but most domains will require a redemption fee to keep them.
At the end of the redemption period, you cannot renew your domain name and it is released. At this point, the domain can be registered by another user.
About the domain life cycle:
Domains can go through different periods from the time they're registered to when they expire. Learn more about the domain life cycle.

Does the grace period apply for all domains?
Some domains have a limited grace period or no grace period at all. For example, .it and .es domains have a 10 day grace period.
The following domains do not have a grace period:
.at
.be
.ch
.cl (also has no redemption period)
.co.at
.com.br
.or.at
.de
.fr
.is (also has no redemption period)
.me (also has no redemption period)
.mx and .com.mx
.nl
.si (also has no redemption period)
When these domains expire, they go straight to the redemption period. Learn more about domain endings that do not have a grace period.
Does the redemption period apply for all domains?
In rare cases, the domain may not be available once it enters the redemption period. This is due to a decision by the domain registrar.
Wix resells domains from a 3rd party domain registrar, who may decide to exercise their right to privately auction the domain name.
To avoid this happening, we recommend that you resolve any payment issues before the domain is due to enter the redemption period, in order to keep the domain under your ownership.
What is the cost of domain recovery?
The redemption fee can vary depending on a number of factors. Not all domains are subject to the same redemption fee amounts. You'll see the required amount displayed within your redemption notification on your Domains page.
Redemption fees may also be subject to local taxes. Any applicable taxes are added to the total on checkout.
Can I recover my domain after the redemption period?
No, once the redemption period has expired your domain is released. The domain will enter a Pending Delete period, after which it will become publicly available to register.
While it can't be renewed or recovered, you can wait until the domain becomes available to all and try to repurchase it. Learn more about domain redemption and pending delete periods.
