  • Wix Headless: Creating a Site with AI Tools | Wix Expert

< Back Using Wix Headless Articles Wix Headless: Creating a Site with AI Tools Wix Headless lets you run your business from the Wix dashboard while your visitors see a custom site built with any tools you like. From the dashboard, you can create and connect your frontend using an AI coding agent or a vibe coding platform. Learn how to open the dashboard, add the business solutions you need, and create and connect your custom site. Before you begin: Sign up to create a free Wix account. Make sure you have access to a supported AI agent or vibe coding platform. Visit our Wix Headless developer documentation for more information. Step 1 | Create a Headless Business Start by creating the business side of your site. This sets up your dashboard, business solutions, and data. To create a Headless Business: Go to Sites in your Wix account. Click Create New Site . Select Headless Business . Note: This opens a Wix dashboard , but with no editor pages to design. Instead, the dashboard gives you the tools needed to create and connect a custom frontend. Step 2 | (Optional) Set up your business solutions and apps Business solutions are the Wix services that power the business side of your site. These include your product catalog, cart and checkout, bookings, events, blog, and more. You manage them from this dashboard. Add the business solutions you need from your dashboard, such as Wix Stores or Wix Bookings . Then, set them up by filling in your products, services, or content. You can also add the Wix CMS to manage your content in collections. Tips: If you add business solutions before creating your frontend, your AI tool can detect them and build matching pages. Set up the Wix MCP - a tool that connects your AI agent to your site - so it can manage your site and update your products, services, and content for you. Step 3 | Create your frontend with your preferred AI tool Your frontend is the website or app your visitors see - the visual layer built on top of your Wix business. There are 2 types of tools you can create your frontend with, using a prompt: AI coding agent: A developer tool that runs in your terminal or IDE. These include Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex. Vibe coding platform: A browser-based platform where you describe what you want to build, such as Base44 . The prompt you send to your chosen AI tool automatically includes the Wix Headless skill , telling the agent how to connect your frontend to Wix. To create your frontend: Click Create Frontend from the Setup tab. Choose the relevant tool. Describe what you want to create. For example, "Build a storefront for handmade ceramics with a product catalog and checkout". Depending on the tool you chose, continue to the relevant steps below: I'm using an AI coding agent Click Copy Prompt . Paste the prompt into your AI agent and run it. Tip: When you run the prompt, the AI agent checks which business solutions are already on your site and connects them. If your site is still empty, your agent asks what you want to set up. Even if you skip step 2, the agent can help you set up the business solutions you describe. I'm using a vibe coding platform Click Create . Tip: This opens the vibe coding platform in a new tab. Once the prompt is sent, the platform builds your frontend, already connected to your Wix dashboard. (In your vibe coding platform) When the site is ready, click Publish and copy your live site link. (In your Wix dashboard) Click Add link at the top. Paste your published site link. Click Update . Note: Wix uses this URL to send visitors back to your site, such as after checkout, for links in marketing emails, and notifications. Adding the frontend link also adds its domain to your allowed redirect domains , so checkout redirects should work without extra setup. Step 4 | Start running your site Once you have built and connected your frontend to the Wix dashboard , you can start running your site through Wix. When you update your business data, your site shows the update automatically. Whenever you want to add or change something, go back to the AI agent or vibe coding platform, and describe what you want in plain language. It can help with: Adding a new page or feature. Changing your site's design or layout. Connecting a business solution. Note: If you add a business solution in your dashboard after building your frontend, go back to your AI agent or vibe coding platform and ask it to update your frontend. For example: "I added Wix Bookings to my site. Add a booking page to my frontend." What's next? Upgrade to a premium plan to accept payments and connect a custom domain. Learn about best practices for prompting your AI agent. FAQs Click a question below to learn more. What are other ways to create a Wix Headless site? While this guide shows you how to start from the Wix dashboard, you can create a Wix Headless site in the following ways as well: From a single AI prompt: You don't have to start from the dashboard. If you give an AI agent the Wix Headless skill , it creates the headless site for you, and the site appears in your Wix account automatically. From an existing Wix site: If you already have a Wix site, you don't need to create a new one. You can connect multiple self-hosted frontends (or frontends hosted in external providers). Learn more in the developer docs . From Claude Design: If you've built your site in Claude Design, you can send it directly to Wix and deploy it as a Wix-managed headless project. Learn more about Claude Design in the developer docs . My frontend URL changed. How do I update it in my Wix dashboard? If you publish a new version of your frontend on a different URL, update the frontend link in your dashboard to match: Go to your site's dashboard . Click the Setup tab. Click Update URL . Paste the new frontend link. Click Update . Learn more in the developer documentation . What if I'm working with a developer? A developer can set up and publish your frontend from the terminal using the Wix CLI, or connect a frontend you already have. Read more about quick starts in the developer docs and learn how to add collaborators . I'm hosting the frontend myself already. What can I do? If you host your frontend yourself instead of with Wix (called self-managed headless), your frontend isn't connected by the Wix Headless skill. Instead, you set up a headless client on your site and call the JavaScript SDK or REST API directly. For more information, learn about choosing a development path in the developer docs. What are the business solutions I can add in the Wix dashboard? Here are some examples of popular Wix business solutions and apps : Wix Stores: Product catalogs, inventory, and collections. Wix eCommerce: Cart, checkout, and order management. Wix Bookings: Services, availability, and scheduling. Wix Events: Events, ticketing, and RSVPs. CMS: Custom content collections for structured content. Wix Blog: Posts, categories, and tags. Members: Site member profiles and accounts. Pricing Plans: Paid memberships and subscriptions. Hover over the Billing and Subscriptions tab and click Premium Subscriptions . Click the More Actions icon next to the plan you want to reassign. Select Assign to a different site . Select the checkbox next to the relevant Studio site. Note: The site must be in the same workspace as the plan you've chosen to reassign. Review the FAQs at the bottom of this article to learn more. Click Next . Click Compare Plans . Note: To upgrade the site, you'll need to select a plan that offers more features than the current plan. Click Select under your new Studio plan. Choose your subscription period and click Continue to Checkout . Enter your payment details and click Submit Purchase . Credit from your current plan Any remaining credit from your old Premium plan is deducted from the price of your new upgrade during the purchase process. The credit is deducted after any discounts from a coupon or seasonal sale are applied. Note: The credit is only applied if you purchased the original plan in the same Wix account as your Studio site. You won't receive a credit if the plan was transferred to you from another Wix account. See how credit calculation works Credit is calculated by dividing the full price of your current plan by the total number of days in the subscription period, and then multiplying this figure by the number of days left in your subscription period. For example: For a yearly plan at the cost of $276 with 10 days left, the calculation will be: $276 ÷ 365 days = $0.76/day This figure is then multiplied by the remaining days in the subscription period: $0.76 x 10 = $7.60 credit remaining FAQs Click a question below to learn about reassigning a Wix Premium plan to a Wix Studio site. Can I move from a more advanced plan to a simpler plan type? No. When reassigning and upgrading to Studio plans, you must select a plan with a comparable or more advanced feature suite. Can I move from a yearly Premium plan to a monthly Studio plan? No. When reassigning and upgrading to Studio plans, subscriptions must be for the same duration, or a lengthier duration. Can I transfer an existing Premium plan to a Studio site without upgrading to a Studio plan? No. Wix Editor and Wix Studio require different types of plans. You can assign an existing Premium plan to a Wix Studio site only by upgrading it to a Studio plan. Where applicable, you receive credit from your old plan according to the number of days you have left in your subscription. What happens to my domain when I assign my Premium plan to a Studio site? When you assign a Premium plan to a Studio site, any primary or redirecting domains associated with the plan will automatically be reassigned to the new site. Why do I need to pay to upgrade to a Studio plan when I assign a Premium plan to a Studio site? Wix Studio is our advanced design platform, so it has different costs associated with it. When you are upgrading to a Studio plan, you are also starting a new billing cycle while benefiting from credit from your old Premium plan. The credit is deducted from the price of your new upgrade during the purchase process. Note: The credit is only applied if you have purchased the original plan in the same Wix account as your Studio site. You won't receive credit if the plan was transferred to you from another Wix account. What can I do if my plan and my Studio site are not in the same workspace? Currently, it is not possible to transfer sites between different workspaces in Wix Studio . As a workaround, you can transfer a site to another account and then back to your original account, choosing the desired workspace in the process. • Wix Stores: Setting Up Live Rates with USPS | Wix Expert

< Back Managing your business Business solutions & apps Wix Stores: Setting Up Live Rates with USPS Important: This feature is available for merchants based in the U.S selling in USD (except Puerto Rico). Rates calculated during checkout may vary from the final shipping rates charged by USPS. Live rate shipping calculation with USPS lets you charge customers a more accurate rate for shipping. How do live rates (real-time shipping calculations) work? The USPS calculator provides approximate, dynamically calculated shipping rates based on the weight and dimensions of the order, and on the shipping cost to and from addresses. Is this an estimate or the actual shipping price? The price is a close estimate; however, actual shipping costs may vary based on how you choose to ship the package - the actual package you use, and the actual weight of your package as determined by the carrier. Do I have to ship with USPS? No, USPS is used for calculation purposes only. The estimate is also the shipping rate your customers are charged. When you actually ship orders, you are free to do so with any carrier you choose. Step 1 | Prepare your products Shipping calculations can be based on the weight of your products. If you have not already done so, enter a weight for each shippable product. Before you begin: Enter your address in your site's business info , so you can select it later on. To prepare products: Go to Products in your site's dashboard. Click to select a product. Scroll down to the Inventory and shipping section and enter the Shipping weight . Click Save . Tip: When adding products in future, make sure to enter a weight. Step 2 | Select a region and shipping services Start by selecting the region where you want to add live rates with USPS. You can set up as many regions as you like. Next, select a shipping service for that region. Services available in the US: Ground Advantage (Previously called First-Class Mail) - Learn more Priority Mail - Learn more Priority Mail Express - Learn more Services available internationally: First-Class Package International - Learn more Priority Mail International - Learn more Priority Mail Express international - Learn more To select a region and shipping services: Go to Shipping, delivery & fulfillment in your site's dashboard. Select an option: Create a new region: Click +Create Region and set up a new delivery area , then click Continue and select Calculated by USPS . Add a rate to an existing region: Click Add Rate next a region and select Calculated by USPS . Select the checkbox next to the service you want to offer. (Optional) Click Add advanced settings to add any of the following: Estimated delivery time: Enter a message (e.g. 3 - 5 Business Days). Rate adjustment (e.g. a $5 handling fee): Note: Customers don't see this as a separate fee. Select percentage or amount. Enter the percentage or the adjustment amount. Free shipping over a specific amount (e.g. free shipping over $80): Enter the amount. To add another option, repeat steps 3 and 4. Step 3 | Choose a package type During setup, you're asked to select your main package type. We recommend you choose the package you use most often. This package will be used to calculate all shipping estimates. Select either your own custom packaging or one of the packaging options offered by USPS: Custom packaging: Choose the Custom option to calculate the price of delivery with any type of packaging other than USPS options. Shipping costs are calculated based on package weight and customers' address. USPS options: When you select a USPS option, the price is calculated per package (whatever fits in the box). Product weight and destination do not factor into the price for domestic shipping. Read some examples of how packages are used in calculations. During setup, you chose the Small flat rate box and indicated that it can hold two items. A customer buys 3 items from your store. Shipping is calculated as though you ship it using 2 Small flat rate boxes. In actual fact, you may choose to ship the item in one Medium Flat Rate Box. Most of your items are small enough to fit into a Small flat rate box , but you do sell some larger items. In this case, you would still choose the Small flat rate box during setup. To offset the higher shipping costs for your larger products, you might consider adding a rate adjustment during step 2 of the setup process. Note: Not all shipping services are available for all types of packaging. Check your carrier for details. To select your package type: Click the Choose a package type drop-down. Select an option: Create a custom package: Click Custom . Enter a package name. Enter the package dimensions. Select one of the available USPS options: Select a package option (e.g. Small flat rate box). Enter the maximum number of products you estimate can fit in this box. Tip: If you select 3 products and a customer buys 9, shipping is calculated for 3 boxes). Step 4 | Select your "Ship From" address If you already entered one or more addresses in the business info page of your site, you can select the relevant address. However, if you haven't yet added it, or want to enter an additional address, you can do so. When you're done, select the relevant "ship from" option from the drop-down. Important: Make sure your address has a 5-digit zip code. Do not add the 4-digit routing number. To select your address: Select the relevant address from the Ship From address drop-down. (Optional) If you don't see the address you need in the drop-down, add it and then select it: Go to Business Info in your site's dashboard. Select an option: I have one address: Enter or edit your business address and click Save . I have a separate "ship from" address: Click +Add a Second Location Enter the address. Click Save . Go back to Shipping & fulfillment in your site's dashboard. Click the More Actions icon next to the USPS rule and click Edit . Select the relevant address from the Ship From address drop-down. Step 5 | Add backup settings & save your changes In most cases, USPS can provide a rate in real time. However, we recommend that you enter a backup weight and rate. These will be used in the unlikely event that a rate cannot be provided while a customer is checking out. To enter backup rates: Enter a backup product weight. Note: This is calculated per product, not per order. Enter a backup shipping rate. Note: This is a flat rate and will be applied to the entire order. Click Save . FAQs Click a question below to learn more. Why don't I see the Calculated by USPS option? Real Time shipping calculations via USPS is currently available only for stores in the US selling in USD, excluding Puerto Rico. If you are based in the US but do not see this option, make sure your address is set to the US and currency is set to USD. Can I ship the actual package with a different carrier? Yes. Note that even if you choose to ship using another carrier, your customer is still charged the price shown to them using live rates with USPS. How can I add a handling fee or other additional rate? In step 2, you can add a rate adjustment to account for any of your additional expenses. Why can't I find a specific service for a particular package? Not all shipping services are available for all packaging types. Check your carrier for details. Why would a real-time rate not be available for a particular order? This can happen for a number of reasons: Communication with USPS is down (rare). You sell a product that is not covered by the shipping services you created (for example, you created only a service which allows a weight of up to 13 oz., but you sell a product that weighs more than that). USPS could not provide a rate for some reason (issue on USPS's side). This article is credited to the Wix team - https://support.wix.com/ and we thank them for that!
