- CMS: Mirroring the Order of Items in Your Collection to Your Site's Connected Elements | Wix Expert
< Back Advanced features CMS CMS: Mirroring the Order of Items in Your Collection to Your Site's Connected Elements Control the order in which items display in their connected elements directly from your CMS collection. When you enable 'Mirror on Site' in your collection view, connected page elements inherit the same item ordering as your view. This allows you and site collaborators to rearrange the items that appear in connected repeaters, galleries, and other elements from a saved collection view . Since you can connect the same collection to multiple elements and pages, you may want to order the items differently across your site. This is where dataset sorts are useful. If you add a sort condition to a dataset, this sort overrides the order set in your mirrored collection view. When you enable 'Mirror on Site', any existing sorts in your datasets remain and apply to their connected elements instead of the mirrored view's order. Mirroring item order between your collection view and your live site By default, items in your collection are sorted by creation date from newest to oldest. You can control the order in which the items appear in their connected site elements from within your collection. To do so, select the collection view you want to use, add a sort to the collection or manually reorder the items, then enable the Mirror on Site toggle. Tips: You cannot add filters to a collection view if it has the 'Mirror on Site' feature enabled. Likewise, you cannot mirror the collection view’s order if the view contains a filter. Keep in mind that any sorts you've added to datasets will override the order you set in your mirrored collection view. To mirror the item order display: Go to CMS in your site's dashboard. Alternatively, you can click CMS in your editor, then click Your Collections . Click the relevant collection. (If you have multiple collection views) Select the view at the top of your collection that you want to use to sort the items. You can also create a new view specifically used for sorting items as they appear on your live site. Choose how you want to sort your items: Add a sort condition to the collection: Automatically sort items in your collection. Click Sort at the top of the collection. Click + Add a Sort . Tip: Click the Edit icon if you want to modify an existing sort condition. Click the Sort by drop-down and select the field you want to sort. Select the order in which you want the items to appear. Click Add Sort . Manually reorder items: Create a custom order for your items. Make sure Table is selected as the layout type at the top of the collection. Click the Reorder icon next to the relevant item. Drag the item up or down to reorder it in the list. Repeat these steps to finish reordering the items. Click Mirror on Site at the top of the collection. Enable the toggle next to Mirror item order on the site . FAQs Click below for answers to common questions about mirroring your collection's order. Can I hide items in my collection to prevent them from appearing on the page? Yes. In your collection settings, you can turn on the Enable drafts toggle. This adds a Status field to your collection where you can set individual items as 'Draft'. These items do not get read by the dataset, so they cannot appear on your live site. You can set schedules that automatically change items between 'Published' and 'Draft' at specific dates and times. You can also save new items and edits as drafts until you publish them. Learn more about: Saving collection changes as drafts before publishing . Managing your collection item statuses . Keep in mind that hiding, showing, or reordering fields in your collection view does not affect whether they can be connected to your page elements. Can I add a filter to my collection view if it has 'Mirror on Site' enabled? No, you cannot add a filter to a collection view that has the 'Mirror on Site' feature enabled. Similarly, if the collection view contains a filter, you can't enable 'Mirror on Site' for it. However, you can create a new collection view without any filters and enable 'Mirror on Site'. Do filters I add in my collection view apply to my live site content? No. Filters added in your collection view only affect how you view and manage content within the collection. They do not apply to your live site's connected elements or impact how content is displayed on your site. If you want your live site's item order to match your collection view, you can use the 'Mirror on Site' feature. However, you cannot add filters to views that are being mirrored on your site, and you cannot enable mirroring on collections that already have filters applied to them. If you want to exclude items from appearing on your live site, you can add filters to the dataset that connects to the elements that display the content. When mirroring is on, what happens if I import a CSV file? When you import a CSV file to your collection , the newly imported items are added to the top of your collection. Can I mirror the order of collection items with my live site in all collection types? You can enable the 'Mirror on Site' feature with any collections you've created that have content appearing on your site, including Wix app collections . Currently, it is not possible to enable 'Mirror on Site' with external collections and Wix Blocks collections . What happens if I delete a collection view that has mirroring enabled? If you delete a collection view that has mirroring enabled, the order on the site reverts back to the order in which the items were created. Keep in mind that any sort conditions you've added to datasets continue to override the order set in your collections. How can I sort my items in a more logical way when using a mixture of letters and numbers in a 'Text' field type? When you're using a 'Text' field type that contains both letters and numbers, the system applies an alphabetic sorting order. This means that 'Text' field values are sorted in an alphabetic sequence. For example: P101 P120 P1200 P123 While this is an expected behavior for an alphabetic sorting logic, you might prefer to sort these values in a numerical sequence. To achieve this, you can use a 'Number' field type without any letters. By using a 'Number' field type, the system will sort the same set of numbers as follows: 101 120 123 1200 This order aligns with a numerical sequence, offering a more intuitive understanding of your sorted data. Learn how to: Add sorts to a dataset to control the order of items on your live site. Add sorts to your collection view to control the order of items in your collection. When should I use random order sorting instead of sorting by field or Mirror on Site? Random order sorting is great when you want your visitors to see a new mix of items each time. For example, use it with testimonial galleries, featured products, or any collection you want to display in a new way every visit. Use the random order sort when you want your site visitors to see your items in a new, unpredictable order every time. This is great for testimonial galleries, featured products, or any collection you want to display differently on each visit. For a fixed or custom sequence, use standard sorting options or the “Mirror on Site” feature. Learn more about sorting live site content with datasets . Frequently asked questions (FAQs) Select a question to learn more about working with anchors. Do viewports affect anchors? Due to the responsive nature of Studio Editor sites, anchor locations can slightly differ between viewports (screen sizes). Depending on a visitor's device, clicking an anchor link may therefore direct them to marginally different locations in the parent section or container. However, these differences are very small - and the anchor link itself is not affected. Can section positions impact anchors? When you set a section as Sticky , the layers are automatically readjusted. This can impact the functionality of the anchor, and it may not work as expected. We therefore recommend using the default position for any sections you add anchors to. Why does my anchor menu show different items on different pages? Anchor menus display anchors that appear on the same page as the menu. If you set an anchor menu to show on multiple pages, it displays different items per page. Can I link the same element to different anchors on different breakpoints? An element can only be linked to one anchor across all breakpoints. It is not possible to remove / change an anchor per breakpoint. This article is credited to the Wix team - https://support.wix.com/ and we thank them for that! Previous Next Need An AI Run Website? - AI Tools: Creating a Task with the AI Custom Agent | Wix Expert
< Back AI tools Using AI agents AI Tools: Creating a Task with the AI Custom Agent Important: Starting September 2026, the AI Custom Agent is no longer available on new accounts. If you already have the AI Custom Agent set up on your site, you can continue using it as usual. To build a team of AI agents that handle tasks and help run your business, try using Symphony by Wix . The AI Custom Agent runs tasks proactively to help you manage your business - no coding needed. Whether you want to automate follow-up emails, generate reports, or handle daily routines, the AI Custom Agent gives you the flexibility to create tasks in the way that works best for you. Important: The AI Custom Agent is an AI agent and as such may produce inaccuracies. Tasks may not executed accurately or exactly the same every time. Step 1 | Create a new task Start by defining the goal you want to reach with a task and choose how you want to create it. You can use a ready-made template, describe your task to AI, or build your own workflow from scratch. Tip: For best results, write your task in English, even if your account is in another language. To create a new task: Go to Custom Agent in your site's dashboard. (1st time only) Click Let's Get Started and skip to step 4 below. Click Create Task . Choose how you want to create your task: Select a template: Browse ready-made templates for the most common business needs. Click a template to preview the workflow and tasks included. Click Edit Template to continue creating this task. Create with AI: Chat with Omni, your AI agent, to describe the goal or workflow you want help with. Click Start from Scratch at the top right and select Create with AI . Tip: Omni will suggest and draft step-by-step instructions for your task, which you can review and edit. Use a blank template: Enter your own instructions for the custom agent to follow. Click Start from Scratch at the top right and select Use blank template . Tip: Continue following the steps below to learn how to fill out the task fields. Step 2 | Define the task Defining your task tells the agent exactly what it should do and how. The clearer your instructions are, the better the agent can work for you. Here you’ll set the task’s name and add detailed step-by-step instructions. When there's a task that the agent needs your approval to run, you'll get notified on your dashboard. Approvals are required by default for actions that impact data on your live site or communicates with your customers, like sending an email. Created your task with a template or AI? You'll see that your task's details have already been filled out for you, but you can edit and change every field. To define a task: Enter a Task name that describes your task clearly. In the Instructions field, write out exactly what you want the agent to do. Tip: Write clear and structured prompts to organize the instructions. For example, make important actions bold and break down steps into a numbered list to clearly state the order of actions. Click the Model dropdown and select the Al model tier you want to use: Note: This feature is still in Beta and might not yet be available for all users. Basic (currently Haiku): Best for small and simple tasks, and optimizing your credits consumption. Balanced (currently Sonnet): Best for most tasks, with a good mix of speed, intelligence, and cost. Uses a medium credit cost. Smartest (currently Opus): Best for complex logic, multi-step reasoning, and nuanced decisions. Uses the highest credit cost. Notes: Models may be updated over time to improve performance. Since each task runs in real time, results may differ slightly on each run to reach the goal you described in the task instructions. Step 3 | Set a trigger to automate the task To automate a task, you need to connect it to an automation trigger , like a new order, form submission, or scheduled time. This means that once a task is triggered by an event on your site, the agent can run it on its own, letting it work 24/7. To set a trigger: Click + Add Trigger . Tip: If a trigger has been added for you, you can change it by clicking the More Actions icon and selecting Replace . Choose a trigger event from the list (e.g. order placed, form submitted). Click Apply . (Optional) Click Edit Settings to customize the automation to your preferences. Notes: Based on the trigger you choose, you will see different settings to finish configuring it. For example, if you added a Wix Automations scheduled time trigger, you need to set a time for the task to happen. The triggers you'll see listed differ depending on which apps are installed on your site (e.g. Wix Forms, Wix Stores). Step 4 | (Optional) Connect an integration Integrations let the agent connect to external platforms and tools so it can proactively perform tasks on your behalf. Built-in tools are always enabled and don't require authentication while external integrations require you to connect to third party services. Click an option below to learn how to connect an integration to your task: Connect an integration for the first time Click Connect next to the relevant integration (e.g. Google Calendar). Select the Google account you'd like to connect and click Continue . Click Allow to give access to Wix. Enable an integration that is already connected If you already connected accounts to an integration, either from the Integrations page or from an automation , all you need to do is enable the integration for this specific task. Enable the toggle next to the relevant integration. (Optional) Change which account you want this task to use. Click the Expand icon and then click the Account drop-down to select a different account. Learn more about connecting and managing integrations. Step 5 | Test your task Testing your task lets you see how the agent will perform before going live. By running a test, you can review the agent’s output and ensure everything works as you expect. This helps minimize surprises once the task is active. We recommend running multiple tests to make sure the agent's output is consistent and reliable. For example, if different users submit negative feedback, you want to make sure the agent will send an email and respond similarly to each. Notes: When testing a task, the agent will always ask for your approval, even if you’ve disabled the Require approvals toggle. However, it will not send you notifications, even if you have them enabled. The task gets tested using the instructions you see on the screen. In other words, if you have just saved the task, then changed the instructions ( e ven if you did not click the save button) - the test will run on the new instructions. To test your task: In the Test task section, click Run Test . ( If your task has a trigger ) Perform the relevant action on your site. For example, leave a review on your site if "Review created" is the trigger. Note: If you have a scheduled trigger, it will run automatically during your test. Choose how to handle the test's result: Approve: Approve the agent's proposed action. Reject: Reject the agent's proposed action. Review & Edit: Go over the agent's proposed action and make any necessary changes. For example, if the agent creates a coupon for 15% off, you can edit the value before approving the action. Inspect your data: View the code for your task's data. Click View details to inspect your full task data log or click the View details icon next to each step to view request and result data. When you’re happy with the result, click Save to activate the task. Tips: Click the Start over icon to restart the test. Click Stop to prevent the agent from running the test. FAQs Click a question below to learn more about creating tasks. Can I create multiple tasks for my agent? Yes. You can create as many tasks as you need, with each task tailored for a different business operation or workflow. Who can access the AI Custom Agent dashboard? The AI custom agent is accessible to all owner and co-owner roles. Learn more about setting roles & permissions. How can I track the tasks the AI Custom Agent has performed? You can track all tasks from your activity log . The activity log also includes tasks that were run for test purposes. If you prefer, you can filter out test runs to only see live runs. Can I manually trigger a task? If you have a task with a Scheduled time trigger, you can initiate it manually whenever you need, in addition to the scheduled time. To run the task, simply chat with the AI Custom Agent in your dashboard or Wix app. What should I do if the AI Custom Agent runs a task differently than I expected? If you notice an error or unexpected output, you can update the task's instructions, add more details, or require approval for the task. You can also test your task to make sure the changes you made produce better results. How do I re-authenticate or remove an account that's connected to an integration? If you need to refresh a connection or remove an account completely, go to the Integrations page in the AI Custom Agent dashboard: Go to Custom Agent in your site's dashboard. Click the More Actions icon at the top. Select Manage integrations . Find the relevant integration and choose what you want to do: Re-authenticate the account if the connection has expired or changed. Remove the account if you no longer want the agent to use it. Learn more about managing integrations. Important: Removing an account can affect any tasks that rely on this integration and may prevent them from running. After removing an account, review the integration settings in the relevant tasks. What are some best practices for creating a task with AI? When creating a task with AI, clear and specific instructions will help your custom agent understand exactly what you need, so it can be as precise as possible when writing your task instructions. Try these tips when writing your task description: Start with how often or when the task should happen: For example, “Every Monday…”, “On a weekly basis…”, or “Whenever…” State clearly what needs to be done: Use action verbs such as gather, analyze, send, check, generate, remind, or create. Add any conditions or criteria: For example, “if inventory is below 20 units,” “for bookings made in the last 30 days,” or “for customers who haven’t ordered recently.” Explain the final action or outcome: For example, “send an email summary,” “apply a discount,” or “create a report and email it.” Be specific with details: Include quantities, recipients, or deadlines as needed, such as “send to my email,” or “expires in a week.” Write the task in English: Even though the AI Custom Agent is supported in various account languages, the agent works best when instructed in English. Here are some examples: Every week, review my contacts to find those who haven’t placed an order recently. Then, create a coupon and send each customer a personalized email invitation to return. Whenever a booking is made but not paid for, send a polite reminder email with booking details and a payment link. On a weekly basis, summarize last week’s sales, highlighting top-performing products by revenue or volume, and send the report to my email. Every Monday, check if any inventory item falls below 20 units. If so, generate a restock email for the supplier. What happens to a task run if I change the model tier? The model tier is saved as part of the task. Each automated run uses the tier that is selected at the time the task runs. If you edit the task and choose a different tier, all future runs use the new selection. This article is credited to the Wix team - https://support.wix.com/ and we thank them for that!
