- Accessibility: Checklist for Improving Your Site's Accessibility | Wix Expert
< Back Building an accessible site About accessibility Accessibility: Checklist for Improving Your Site's Accessibility When building your site with Wix, it is important to take accessibility into account. This ensures that all visitors, regardless of ability, can access and enjoy your site's content. We recommend manually checking your site with the below checklist to make sure your visitors have a smooth, easy experience. Tip: The best way to ensure accessibility on your site is with the Accessibility Wizard, which scans your site, and provides actionable solutions to improve your site's accessibility. Try out the Accessibility Wizard to get started. Understanding accessibility Website accessibility refers to the practice of formatting your site to ensure everyone, able-bodied or disabled, can equally access, navigate and interact with your site's content. You may have some visitors who require different accommodations in order to navigate or use your site, such as: Visual accommodations: People who experience low vision or loss of vision may rely on assistive technologies (like screen readers) or visual formatting (like increased text size, higher color contrasts, etc.) to successfully navigate through your site. Limited motor-function accommodations: People whose motor function range limits the use of a mouse or touchpad, may instead use a keyboard coupled with visual indicators to navigate through a site. Auditory accommodations: People who experience any degree of hearing loss may rely on the availability of audio captions or transcripts on your site. Cognitive accommodations: People affected by learning or cognitive disabilities (dyslexia, ADHD, autism, etc.) rely on content structure and layout consistency to navigate successfully through your site. Neurological accommodations: People with sensory sensitivities (such as seizure disorders) may rely on reduced motion of animated elements, or may benefit from the option to control what triggers a movement or an animation. Speech accommodations: People who are affected by speech disabilities may require alternate contact methods, such as providing contact forms, chat, or email options, rather than just providing a phone number. It is therefore good web practice to ensure that all of your visitors can navigate and enjoy your site equally. Building an accessible Wix site You can build a new site from scratch by beginning with one of our accessible templates . These templates have basic built-in accessibility features, such as accessible heading structures and color contrast. Once you've selected your template, and added your desired content to it, you can review the checklist below and complete any required action items. Note: Some advanced accessibility features, such as custom ARIA labels and alt text, are not included in these templates and need to be added manually. Accessibility checklist While Wix takes care of many of the back-end accessibility features / configurations your site needs, such as: keyboard semantics, defining ARIA attributes for elements we provide, offering visual indicators, etc., it is also necessary to make the content you add to your site accessible. Accessibility requirements can differ from region to region, but we have created a checklist of universal steps that cover the basics for every region. To learn more about creating an accessible website that is also compliant with the laws in your region, please see Accessibility: Compliance with Your Regional Laws . Follow our recommendations below to help you improve your site's accessibility: Set your site's language Enable visual indicators Check your site's DOM order Prepare your site structure Prepare your images and galleries Prepare your text and graphics Choose clear fonts Reduce motion Make videos and audio accessible Make document files accessible Make Wix Forms accessible Add an accessibility statement to your site Important note about compliance: At Wix, we are committed to ensuring everyone, regardless of ability, can use our products and services. We are continually working on improving them, in line with accessibility standards. Wix.com cannot guarantee or ensure that the use of our services is compliant with all accessibility laws and worldwide regulations. You are responsible for reviewing and complying with local legislation applicable to you or to your site visitors. - Wix Bookings: Creating a Course | Wix Expert
< Back Managing your business Business solutions & apps Wix Bookings: Creating a Course Courses are a great way to offer services with multiple sessions that start and end on specific dates. You can use courses to create: Multi-session meetings: Clients sign up and pay for an entire course, for example, a five-week pottery course that meets once a week from March 1st to March 29th. One-time group services: For example, a Saturday meditation workshop held only once. Tip: Wix Bookings offers three different types of services - classes, courses and appointments. Make sure you choose the right type of service for your business . Step 1 | Create a course Start by creating your service with an appropriate title (e.g. Beginner Spanish). Add a description and images so clients know what they can expect from the course before signing up. Later, in steps 3 and 4 , you can decide when the course takes place, which of your staff teaches the course, how long the sessions last, and more. To create a course: Go to Booking Services in your site's dashboard. Click + Add a New Service in the top right. Scroll down to Courses and choose what you want to do: Click Edit below the relevant course template. Click + Start from Scratch to use a blank template. Fill out the Service details : Name: Enter the name of the course. Tagline (optional): Enter a tagline that will appear below the service name on your site. Description (optional): Enter a description that will appear on the service page of your site. Tip: Click Generate AI Description to let AI (Artificial Intelligence) help you create a description. Image (optional): Add an image for clients to see when they look through your list of services. Max participants: Enter the maximum number of course participants. Step 2 | Set the price and payment options for the course Once you add the basic information about your course, choose how clients pay for it. Let them pay the entire amount online, in person, or have both options available. You can also add a deposit for clients to pay in advance on your site. To set the price and payment options for your course: Click the Pricing & payment section . Select the relevant pricing option from the Price type drop-down. Fixed price: A set amount you choose. Enter the price under Amount . Choose how clients pay under Payment preferences (e.g. entire amount online, online deposit, etc.) Monthly pricing : Set a fixed price to charge each month. Free: Offer this course for free. Varied pricing: Create different price options depending on the client type. Enter the Default amount for this course. Choose how clients pay you under Payment preferences (e.g. entire amount online, online deposit, etc.) Custom price: Enter a description of how you charge for courses. For example, "Starting from $25." Step 3 | (Optional) Create add-ons Create add-ons so clients can personalize their bookings with extra options for their sessions. Organize these add-ons into groups under each service, so clients see clear, organized choices when they book. Each group connects to one service, but you can use the same add-on across multiple groups or services. For example, for a photography course, you can create a 'Course Materials' group with add-ons like printed handouts or notes from the course. To create add-ons: Click the the Add-ons section. Click Get Started (first time only) or click Create New Group . Set up the group and add-ons for this service: Group name: Enter a name for the group. Additional settings: Select limits to your add-on: Additional time: Select this if the add-on adds extra minutes to the service (e.g. offer a 30-minute one-on-one coaching session after your group course ends). Quantity: Select this if you want clients to pick more than one unit (e.g. up to 2 bottles of water). Note: You can set either additional time or quantity, not both. Click Create Add-on . (Optional) Repeat these steps to create more add-ons to this group. Then click the Max add-ons per service drop-down and set the number of add-ons a client can book per group. Select No limit or choose a specific number (e.g. 1). Click Save . Important: Courses can have only 1 group of add-ons, and these add-ons can’t add extra duration. Add-ons are not available for the following services: Free services, courses with monthly pricing, and services that can only be booked with a pricing plan. Course add-ons apply to the entire course and not individual sessions. Step 4 | Schedule when you offer the course Once you decide on your pricing and payment options and location, you can add more specific details, including: Who teaches the course What day(s) and time you offer the course sessions How long each course session lasts The start and end dates Tip: The instructions below show you how to set your schedule in the service creation form. < Back Advanced features CMS CMS: About Dataset Click Actions for Buttons and Images When connecting a button or image to a dataset , choose what action occurs when visitors click the element. The list of available actions varies depending on the dataset mode and whether you connect to a regular dataset or a dynamic page dataset. Learn more about all the available dataset click actions below. Editing actions Use dataset editing actions to create custom CMS forms that are built with input elements that submit to your collection. These actions include 'Submit', 'New', 'Revert', and 'Delete'. View details about each dataset editing action below: Submit Use the 'Submit' click action to save information to your collection that visitors provide in input elements . Learn how to create a custom form using input elements that saves to your CMS collection. Notes: Set the dataset mode to Write or Read & Write to allow visitors to submit new items or update existing items. If the dataset mode is set to: Write: The 'Submit' action adds the input values to a new item in your collection. Read & Write: The 'Submit' action updates the input values of the existing collection item that is being read by the dataset. Set the collection permissions to Collect content or Advanced to allow visitors to add content to your collection. New Use the 'New' click action to submit values from the dataset's connected input elements to your collection and then reset the inputs so they can accept new values. Set the dataset mode to Read & Write to use the 'New' action to either add new items or update existing items in your collection. In this mode, the inputs display the current values of an existing item. If you edit these values and click 'New', the updated values replace the existing item's values. After this, the inputs reset. If you fill them out again and click 'New', the input values create a new item in your collection. Learn more about managing collection content from your live site . Notes: Set the dataset mode to Read & Write to allow visitors to use 'New' buttons. Set the collection permissions to Collect content or Advanced to allow visitors to add or update content in your collection. Revert Use the 'Revert' action to let visitors click to undo any selections or edits they've made to the input elements. The 'Revert' action resets the values of the dataset's connected input elements that have not yet been submitted to your collection. This is a great way for visitors quickly reset their custom CMS form selections and start over from scratch filling out the form. Notes: Set the dataset mode to Write or Read & Write to allow visitors to use 'Revert' buttons to reset inputs that submit to your collection. Set the collection permissions to Collect content or Advanced so the input elements that connect to the same dataset as your 'Revert' button can submit to your collection. If you want to give visitors a way to reset input elements that are set to filter content, use the 'Reset input values' action instead. Delete Use the 'Delete' click action to delete existing items from the dataset's connected collection. When visitors click the 'Delete' button, the item that is read by the dataset is deleted from your collection. Notes: Set the dataset mode to Read & Write to use this 'Delete' action. The dataset needs to be able to first read the collection item in order to then delete it. Set the collection permissions to Advanced and select the Delete checkbox next to the relevant roles. You can restore deleted collection items with CMS backups . List actions Use dataset list actions to create buttons that interact with other elements that connect to the dataset and read from your collection. These actions include 'Load more', Apply filters', 'Reset input values', 'Next item' and 'Previous item'. View details about each dataset list action below: Load more Use the 'Load more' click action to cause the dataset's connected repeater or gallery to load an additional batch of items. The maximum number of items that can load in each batch is determined by the 'Items per load' dataset setting . This setting also controls the maximum number of items that initially load in the dataset's connected repeater or gallery. For example: Imagine having a repeater connected to a dataset with the 'Items per load' setting set to 4 and the collection containing 10 items. When the page loads, the dataset can only read 4 items per load, so only 4 items initially appear in the repeater. When a visitor clicks a 'Load more' button, the next 4 collection items are read and displayed for a total of 8 items (4+4=8). Clicking 'Load more' again causes the dataset to look for 4 more items. The collection only has 2 more items, so the remaining 2 items load to display all 10 items (4+4+2=10). Other dataset settings, such as filters and sorts , also apply to the 'Load more' action. So, if you add a filter to exclude items, the dataset does not read these items or display them when visitors click your 'Load more' button. Dataset sort conditions determine the order in which the items load initially, and when visitors click the 'Load more' button. Learn how to add a 'Load more' button to a repeater or gallery . Notes: Set the dataset mode to Read or Read & Write to use the 'Load more' click action. The dataset needs to be able to read your collection in order to display its items. You can set the collection permissions to Show content , Collect content , or Advanced . Whichever you choose, make sure to set the 'View' permissions so only the appropriate visitors can view the collection content on your live site. The 'Load more' action is only relevant to datasets that connect to repeaters or galleries. FAQs about the 'Load more' action: What is the maximum number of items I can load at a time? By default, the Items per load field is set to 100 items or 1 item for dynamic item pages. To ensure the best loading experience for your site visitors, you can display up to 1000 items per load on your page. Add a 'Load More' button to provide visitors with a way to click and view more items on the page. You can also add 'Previous/Next page' buttons and pagination bars (Wix Editor only) to limit the number of items displayed per 'page' of items. Learn more about: Adding a 'Load more' button to a repeater Adding a 'Load more' button to a pro gallery Why should I add 'Load more' or 'Previous/Next page' buttons? Adding 'Load more' or 'Previous/Next page' buttons to the dataset that connects to your repeater or gallery enhances the user experience and optimizes loading performance. Key Reasons: Improved Loading Performance: Displaying a large number of items at once can slow down your site. These buttons help segment the load, making your site faster and more responsive. User Control: Users can choose to view content at their own pace, which can be more engaging than scrolling through a long list. Better Organization: These buttons allow for better content organization, making it easier for users to navigate and find what they’re looking for. How do I create a 'Load more' button? To create a 'Load more' button, add a button or image, connect it to the dataset and set the element's click action to Load more . Learn how to add a 'Load more' button to a: Repeater on a dynamic list page. Gallery on a dynamic list page. Note: If you connect a pro gallery to your collection's 'Media Gallery' field type , you can use the gallery's built-in 'Load more' button to restrict the number of images or videos displayed on the page. For directions, see the question below titled: Why doesn't my pro gallery's 'Load more' button respond to the dataset settings? Why doesn't my pro gallery's 'Load more' button respond to the dataset settings? The pro gallery has a built-in 'Load more' button that can restrict the number of media items displayed in the gallery. If you enable this 'Load more' button in the gallery's layout settings, it uses these settings to determine when to appear and how many more images load. With the gallery's built-in 'Load more' button, the dataset's Items per load setting determines the aggregate total maximum items that can load in the gallery. However, it no longer determines how many items initially load in the gallery or how many additional items load when visitors click this 'Load more' button. Consider the type of collection field your gallery connects to when deciding which 'Load more' button to use: Image field type: If your gallery connects to an image field used to display only 1 image per collection item, create a 'Load more' button that connects to the dataset. View the steps in the FAQ above to learn how. Media gallery field type: If your gallery connects to a media gallery field used to display several images per collection item, use the gallery's built-in 'Load more' button. Learn how to enable the 'Load more' button in the pro gallery's custom layout settings . Apply filters When you have input elements that are set to filter content , by default, the filters are applied as soon as a visitor makes a selection. You can change this behavior by using the 'Apply filters' click action. With an 'Apply filters' button, the content is not filtered until visitors click this button. This creates a better experience for visitors if, for example, you want them to set multiple filters before applying them all at once. Notes: Set the dataset mode to Read or Read & Write to use the 'Apply filters' click action. The dataset needs to be able to read your collection in order to display and filter its items. You can set the collection permissions to Show content , Collect content , or Advanced . Whichever you choose, make sure to set the 'View' permissions so only the appropriate visitors can view the collection content on your live site. The 'Apply filters' action is only relevant when connected to a dataset that also connects to input elements that are set to filter content. Reset input values Use the 'Reset input values' action to let visitors click to clear all the selections they've made in input elements that are set to filter content . This is a great way for visitors to clear all the filters they've set in one click. The 'Reset input values' action is similar to the 'Revert' action used for input elements that collect content, Notes: Set the dataset mode to Read or Read & Write to use the 'Reset input values' click action. The dataset needs to be able to read your collection in order to display and filter its items. You can set the collection permissions to Show content , Collect content , or Advanced . Whichever you choose, make sure to set the 'View' permissions so only the appropriate visitors can view the collection content on your live site. The 'Reset input values' action is only relevant when connected to a dataset that also connects to input elements that are set to filter content. If you need to reset the values of input elements that are set to collect content, use the 'Revert' action instead. Next item / Previous item Use the 'Next/Previous item' actions to show content from the next or previous item read by the dataset. The order in which the collection items are read is determined by the dataset's sort condition. Dataset filters also apply so the dataset does not load any items that are excluded by the filter. If you connect input elements that collect content to a Read & Write mode dataset, clicking the 'Next item' button saves the input values to the current collection item before loading the next one. The same applies to the 'Previous item' button, which saves changes before loading the previous item. Learn how to manage collection content from your live site: If your site is built with the Wix Editor . If your site is built with the Studio Editor . Notes: Set the dataset mode to Read or Read & Write to use the 'Next/Previous item' click action. The dataset needs to be able to read your collection to show content from the next or previous items. You can set the collection permissions to Show content , Collect content , or Advanced to use the 'Next/Previous item' action. The 'Next/Previous item' actions are not relevant for buttons or images that connect to dynamic page datasets: On dynamic item pages: Use the 'Next/Previous dynamic page' action instead if you want to take visitors to the next or previous item's version of the page. On dynamic list pages: Use the 'Next/Previous page' action instead if you want the connected repeater or gallery to show the next batch or 'page' of items. The Items per load dataset setting determines how many items can appear in each 'page' of items. To cycle through the next or previous 'page' of items in a repeater or gallery on a static page, use the 'Next/Previous page' action instead. With repeaters and galleries, the 'Next/Previous item' action only cycles through one item at a time. This makes it appear not to not work until you've clicked enough times to cycle through all the displayed items. Whereas the 'Next/Previous page' action loads an entire new group of items in one click. Navigation actions Use dataset navigation actions to create buttons that take visitors to the next or previous dynamic page read by the dataset, or to specific dynamic pages. These actions include 'Next/Previous page' and 'Next/Previous dynamic page'. View details about the dataset navigation actions below: Next page / Previous page Use the 'Next/Previous page' actions to cause connected repeaters and galleries to display the next or previous 'page' of items. The dataset's 'Items per load' setting determines how many items are on each 'page'. The dataset's filters and sort conditions determine which items load and the order in which they appear in each 'page'. For example, if you click a 'Next page' button and the dataset's 'Items per load' setting is "10", the next 10 items read by the dataset load in the repeater or gallery. These click actions are similar to the 'Load more' action . However, instead of loading additional items, the 'Next/Previous page' actions replace the existing items with a new 'page' of items in the repeater or gallery. Notes: These actions are only relevant to datasets connected to repeaters and galleries. These actions are not relevant for dynamic item page datasets used to show only 1 item on the page. Instead, use the 'Next/Previous dynamic page' action to take visitors to the next or previous item's version of the page (at its dynamic URL). Set the dataset mode to Read or Read & Write to use the 'Next/Previous page' click actions. The dataset needs to be able to read your collection to show the next/previous 'page' of items. You can set the collection permissions to Show content , Collect content , or Advanced with these actions. Next dynamic page / Previous dynamic page On a dynamic item page, the 'Next/previous dynamic page' actions take visitors to the next or previous item's version of the page. Each item has a unique dynamic URL for its dynamic item page in which the item displays. In the dataset settings, the dataset's sort condition determines the order in which the next or previous item's dynamic URL loads. You can add a filter to the dataset to exclude specific item page URLs from loading. For example, with the 'Next dynamic page' action, if the dataset sorts a 'Number' field type from low to high, the item with the next highest number loads next. If the dataset has a filter that excludes certain items from loading, these excluded items will be skipped and the next available item page loads. When visitors are viewing the last dynamic item page read by the dataset, the 'Next dynamic page' click action is disabled. This is because there are no more item pages remaining that can load from the dataset. The same concept applies to the 'Previous dynamic page' action. If visitors are on the first item page returned by the dataset, the 'Previous dynamic page' click action is disabled since there are no previous item pages read by the dataset. The 'Next/Previous dynamic page' actions can also be used by visitors to edit collection content. If you connected input elements to a Read & Write mode dataset, when visitors click the 'Next dynamic page' button, their inputs write to the current collection item before loading the next dynamic item page. The same concept applies to the 'Previous dynamic page' click action, which writes to the collection before loading the previous dynamic item page. Learn more about managing collection content from your live site . Note: These click actions are only available when the dataset mode is set to Read or Read & Write . These click actions work with buttons and images on dynamic item pages only. The button or image must be connected to the dynamic item page's connected dataset. Set the dataset mode to Read or Read & Write to use the 'Next/Previous dynamic page' click actions. The dataset needs to be able to read your collection to go to the next/previous dynamic page URL. You can set the collection permissions to Show content , Collect content , or Advanced with these actions. Field actions Connect buttons and images directly to the following collection field types: Audio , Document , Email , Image , Video , and URL . What happens when visitors click these buttons depends on the connected field type: Email: Opens the visitor's default email client (like Mail or Outlook) so they can send a message to the address stored in the item. URL, Document, Audio, Video: A new tab opens and the file loads. When connecting a URL field, you can choose to open the URL in the current window as well as set rel values for improved SEO . Wix Stores actions Use the dataset 'Stores/Products Actions' to create buttons that interact with your Wix Stores products. To use these dataset actions, make sure to enable Wix App Collections in your CMS advanced settings. View the available dataset 'Stores/Products Actions' below: View full tutorials about: Displaying Your Wix Stores Products on a Dynamic List Page Displaying Your Wix Stores Products on Any Page Add to cart Use the 'Add to cart' action to give visitors a way to add products to their shopping cart from a repeater displaying your products. Note: This click action is available if you have Wix App Collections enabled, Wix Stores products, and the dataset connects to the Products Wix App collection. Open quick view If you have a repeater displaying your Wix Stores products, use the 'Open quick view' action to let visitors view products in the quick view window . From there, visitors can read more about the product and add it to their cart. Note: This click action is available if you have Wix App Collections enabled, Wix Stores products, and the dataset connects to the Products Wix App collection. Catalog collection actions Use the catalog collection click actions to let visitors purchase items directly from a catalog collection . These actions appear in the dataset's Click action connects to dropdown when the dataset connects to a catalog collection. View the available actions below. Add to cart Use the 'Add to cart' action to let visitors add a catalog collection item to their cart from the page they're viewing. When a visitor clicks the connected element, a side panel opens where they can review the item and continue shopping or proceed to checkout. Notes: This action appears when the dataset connects to a catalog collection . At least one payment method must be set up before visitors can complete a purchase. Buy now Use the 'Buy now' action to send visitors straight to the checkout page for the connected catalog item. This is a faster path than 'Add to cart' when you want to reduce the steps between an item view and a completed purchase. Notes: This action appears when the dataset connects to a catalog collection . At least one payment method must be set up before visitors can complete a purchase. Pricing Plans actions Use the dataset 'PaidPlans/Plans Actions' to create separate buttons visitors can use to select a plan and go to checkout. To use these dataset actions, make sure to enable Wix App Collections in your CMS advanced settings. You can connect buttons and images to the following Pricing Plans dataset actions: Select plan: When clicked, this action adds the relevant plan to the cart. Navigate to checkout: When clicked, this action takes the visitor to checkout. Note: This click action is available if you have Wix App Collections enabled, plans created in Wix Pricing Plans , and the dataset connects to the Plans Wix App collection. - CMS: About Collection Permissions | Wix Expert
< Back Advanced features CMS CMS: About Collection Permissions In the CMS (Content Management System) , you can set collection permissions to determine who can view, add, update, or delete the collection content. Site owners and collaborators with CMS editing permissions can manage these permissions in the collection's permissions & privacy settings. Collection permissions help you manage access to your collection content and maintain the security of your site's data. For example, if you run an online community, you might want to allow only registered members to view and contribute to certain collections, ensuring that sensitive information stays within your trusted user base. Learn how to change your collection permissions from the collection settings . Manage live site access to collection content Collection permissions determine who can access your site's CMS collection content and what they can do with it (e.g. view, add items, update existing content, delete content). People with the appropriate permissions can manage live site content using input elements , or via the Data API . You can select different permissions for collaborators, item creators, site members, and everyone else. With the 'Advanced' permissions, you can set specific permissions for each custom CMS role you create. This offers you enhanced control over which collaborators can view, add, update, or delete your live site's collection content. Important: Collaborators with admin roles always maintain full access to your collections. Admins can perform all actions, including viewing, adding, updating, and deleting collection content, whether from the live site or the CMS itself. Velo by Wix users: The Wix Data API lets you access your collections directly using code, giving you more capabilities than the preset and advanced collection permissions. Use the 'Show content' permission for view-only access The 'Show content' permission allows your collection content to be viewable on the live site by site visitors. This setting is useful when you want to make certain information publicly accessible without allowing any modifications. You can choose to make the content viewable by everyone or restrict it to site members only. This ensures that sensitive content remains protected while still being accessible to those who need it. It's important to note that depending on the permissions you apply, the collection content can still be accessed if it doesn't appear on your live site. For example, if "Everyone" is selected under "Who can view this content," then anyone can use the Data API to view the collection content. What do each of the 'view' permissions grant access to? With the 'Show content' permission, click the drop-down to choose who can view the collection's content from your live site: Everyone: Any site visitor can view the content. Members only: Only site members can view the content. What about collaborators with CMS access? With these 'Show content' collection permissions, admins and collaborators with CMS access maintain full access to the collection. They can perform all actions, including viewing, adding, updating, and deleting collection content, whether from the live site or the CMS itself. Use the 'Collect content' permission to allow adding new items The 'Collect content' permission lets visitors add new items to your collection through input elements or API. This is particularly useful for sites that gather user-generated content, such as reviews, comments, or posts. However, this permission does not allow visitors to update existing items or their field values. Use ' Advanced' permissions if you need to allow existing items or their field values to be updated from the live site. You can decide whether any site visitor or only site members can add new content to the collection. Additionally, you can control who can view the added content, ensuring that it meets your site's privacy and security standards. While dataset settings impact the actions that can be taken on a page, only collection permissions can actually limit operations that can be performed by various roles. What do each of the 'Collect content' permissions grant access to? With the 'Collect content' permission, you can choose who can add items and who can view the items from separate drop-downs: Click the Who can add content to this collection? drop-down and choose an option: Everyone: Any site visitor can add new items to the collection from the live site. Collaborators with CMS access roles and admins can also add items from within the CMS. Members only: Only site members, collaborators with CMS access roles, and admins can add new items to the collection from the live site. Collaborators with CMS access and admins can also add items from within the CMS. Click the Who can view this content? drop-down and choose an option: Collaborators: Admins and collaborators with CMS access roles can view the collection content in the CMS and the live site. Tip: To assign permissions for a specific collaborator role, use the Advanced collection permissions and click + Set permissions for specific roles . Members only: Only site members, collaborators with CMS access and admins can view the collection content on the live site. Collaborators with CMS access and admins can also view it within the CMS. Item's creator: Site members can only view items on the live site that they themselves added to the collection. Collaborators and admins can still view all the items on both the live site, and in the CMS. Everyone: Any site visitor can view the collection content on the live site. Collaborators with CMS access and admins can also view it within the CMS. Click Save . What about collaborators with CMS access? With these 'Collect content' collection permissions, admins and collaborators with CMS access maintain full access to the collection. They can perform all actions, including viewing, adding, updating, and deleting collection content, whether from the live site or the CMS itself. Set 'Advanced' permissions for more access control For more control over who can view, add, update, or delete content, set 'Advanced' permissions. This allows you to tailor access based on different roles, such as collaborators, item creators, members, and everyone else. If you created custom CMS access roles for your collaborators, you can set specific permissions for each role. For instance, you might allow only admins and a specific collaborator role to delete content, while letting item creators update their own submissions only. This flexibility ensures that you can manage your collection content in a way that aligns with your site's specific needs and security requirements. When using 'Advanced' permissions, make sure that the permissions you assign match the business logic and the confidentiality classification of the data in the collection. For example, collections with details about customers or business leads should be treated differently than collections about products. What do each of the 'Advanced' permissions grant access to? With the 'Advanced' permissions, you can select different permissions for viewing, adding, updating, and deleting content for each role. This lets you control what people with each access level can do with your site's collection content. For each user role, select the checkboxes to choose whether they can view content, add new items, update existing items, or delete items. You can also create permissions for specific collaborator roles for greater control over which collaborators can view, add, update, or delete items. Select the relevant permissions for each of the roles: Everyone: This role applies to everyone who can access your live site. Selecting a permission for this role also selects it for the other roles in the table. Members: This role applies to site members only. Selecting a permission for this role also selects it for the 'Item's creator' role, the 'Collaborators' role, and any specific roles you add to the table. Item's creator: This role's permissions only apply to the specific items that a member creates themselves. For example, you can set permissions to allow the item's creator to update or delete only the items that they create. Selecting a permission for this role also selects it for the 'Collaborators' role and any specific roles you add to the table. Collaborators: This role applies to all collaborator roles with CMS access. Selecting a permission for this role also selects it for any specific collaborator roles you've set permissions for. Admin: This role applies to site owners and collaborator roles with CMS admin permissions. You cannot change the permissions of this 'Admin' role. Specific roles: If you add roles to the table, they apply to collaborators with specific CMS access roles. If you set permissions for a specific role, then deselect a permission in that role, the permission is also deselected in the main 'Collaborators' role. Choose from the following access levels for each role: View: People with the relevant role(s) can view the collection content. Add: People with the relevant role(s) can add new items to the collection. Update: People with the relevant role(s) can edit existing collection items. Delete: People with the relevant role(s) can remove existing collection items. What permissions are available when I set a collection to 'Save changes as draft first'? When a collection is set to Save changes as draft first , an extra Collaborators & specific roles permissions table appears below the Advanced permissions table. Use it to control who can view items, create and edit drafts, publish, and delete. Learn more about saving collection changes as drafts before publishing . Notes: With these 'Advanced' collection permissions, admins and collaborators with CMS access maintain full access to the collection. However, you can set permissions for specific collaborator roles to restrict them from having view, add, update, or delete access to the collection. Data access permissions do not change with PII encryption. Appropriate permissions must be set to maintain the confidentiality of the data. Learn more about PII and data security . Modify permissions for all your collections Understanding and managing permissions for all your collections is crucial for maintaining the integrity and security of your site. Each collection can have its own set of permissions, allowing you to customize access based on the type of content and the intended audience. By regularly reviewing and adjusting these permissions, you can ensure that your site's data remains secure and that visitors have the appropriate level of access. Admins, such as site owners, have unrestricted access to CMS collections. This allows them to handle all tasks, including viewing, editing, adding, and deleting content, whether through the live site or within the CMS. You cannot change the permissions associated with admin roles. When you preview your site, you do so in the admin role. To interact as another type of user, first publish your site and then navigate to your live site and either log in as a different user (site member) or do not log in at all (everyone). Remember that, if sandbox collections are enabled on your site, your live site works with the live collections and not with the sandbox collections. What makes a collaborator an admin? There are several preset roles you can assign to collaborators that grant them admin access, including the 'CMS Admin' role. In your collection permissions, when you set permissions for a specific role, you can select roles that grant CMS access under Roles with CMS access . Under CMS Admin roles (included) , you can view all the admin roles that maintain full access to your collection. When creating a custom role , select the CMS Manage Content permissions to grant collaborators access to the CMS. Select any of the following permissions to give a custom role full admin access to all your collections: Editor: Edit Site Studio Editor: Edit Code Studio Editor: Edit Site Structure Velo: Access developer tools Velo by Wix: Authorization suppression When interacting with your collections using the Data API, you can choose to bypass the permissions model in certain cases. The optional WixDataOptions argument can be sent to the API function call with the suppressAuth property set to true. This will cause the function to run without checking if the current user has the correct permissions. You can only bypass permissions when making API calls from backend code. Client-side API calls will always run permission checks, regardless of what options are passed. For example, a collection may contain comments as well as the email address of the comment creator. Visitors should be able to view the comments, however only the admin should be able to view the email addresses. The authorization suppression can enable the visitors to view the comments without granting visitors the permission to 'read' the comments collection. This can be done by writing a web module in a .jsw file in the backend that will call the comments collection with the suppressAuth property set to true and then filter out the response and return only the desired fields (comments) to the client for the visitor to view, without the other fields of the collection, specifically without the emails. import wixData from 'wix-data'; // ... let options = { "suppressAuth": true }; wixData.query("myCollection") .find(options) .then( (results) => { if(results.items.length > 0) { let items = results.items; let firstItem = items[0]; } else { // handle case where no matching items found } } ) .catch( (error) => { let errorMsg = error.message; let code = error.code; } ); Another example for the use of suppressAuth, is where you want to allow a custom role (a specific site member or a specific group of site members) access to a collection that is set with admin permissions. In this case, the web module must check the identity or the role of the site member before calling for the data. Notes: Collection permissions impact what data is loaded by datasets that connect to the collection. Learn more about dataset modes which determine whether the dataset can read, write, or read and write collection data. Dataset settings can be used to refine what data operations can be performed by the elements connected to that specific dataset. Data is always accessible to the extent specified by collection permissions using the Data API. Some roles depend on your having a members area on your site. If you use Velo by Wix, you can also add membership functionality with the wix-members-backend API . You can implement a custom role on a collection by using code to make a data call from the backend with the suppressAuth option. The data call should be made after the membership custom role is validated with the wix-users API functionality in the code. - CMS: Troubleshooting Dynamic Pages Issues | Wix Expert
< Back Advanced features CMS CMS: Troubleshooting Dynamic Pages Issues Dynamic pages in the Content Management System (CMS) allow you to display multiple items without having to redesign your page for each one. By creating unique pages based on a single design, you save time and ensure consistency across your site. However, like any tool, you might encounter some issues while using dynamic pages. This article helps you identify and resolve common problems, enabling you to fully leverage the efficiency and consistency that dynamic pages bring to your site management. Tip: You can troubleshoot many dynamic page issues from the new View Connections page in your collection. This feature is not yet available in all Wix accounts. Go to CMS in your site's dashboard. Click the relevant collection. Click More Actions at the top right and select View Connections . Review the dynamic page URLs, the fields used as URL slugs, and more. Live site isn't working properly If your page and content is displayed properly in Preview mode but not on your live site, make sure: Your site has been published since you added the dynamic page. Check that your collection permissions are set to allow the relevant people to view the content. If you have the optional sandbox collection enabled, sync your sandbox collection to the live collection . We're working on fixing this issue with the incorrect number of items displayed in the dynamic dataset. Button links don't work or lead to the wrong location If a link or button doesn't lead anywhere or leads to the wrong place, it's typically because the element is linked to a static destination but also connected to the CMS. Elements cannot have both a static link from the Link icon and a dynamic link from within a CMS dataset. Empty dynamic item page If your item page is empty in your editor, it could be because your live collection has items, but the sandbox collection is empty. The editor shows content according to the sandbox collection. Show me how to fix it If your sandbox collection is empty while your live collection has items, make sure to sync the two. This ensures that the content displayed in the editor matches the content on your live collection. Learn how to sync your live collection to your sandbox . Non-functional navigational buttons If a button doesn't work or is greyed out when set to the next/previous item, it's usually due to the type of dataset or the action being used. This ensures that visitors are taken to the correct item's dynamic URL. On dynamic list pages: Use the 'Next/Previous Page' action to display the next set of items in a connected repeater or gallery. The number of items displayed is determined by the Maximum Items Displayed field in the dataset settings. Check the dataset type: Dynamic datasets: Use 'Next/Previous dynamic page' actions only. These actions navigate through dynamic URLs of the items. Regular datasets: Use 'Next/Previous item' actions to cycle through items within the same dataset. Verify your dataset filters and sorting: The 'Next/Previous Item' actions work according to the dataset’s filters and sorting . If the URL was already published or indexed, make sure a redirect was created after the slug changed. (If updating the slug doesn't solve the issue) Try removing the dynamic page connections from the page settings. Then, convert the page to a dynamic page , reconnect the elements, and reconfigure the URL slug structure. Note: Do not use a hash symbol (#) in the URL field. It can break the page upon refresh, causing a 500 error page, as hashes are intended for anchors. Large space / gap at the bottom of the page If your dynamic item page has a large space or gap at the bottom, it's usually because item pages are different lengths, and the layout was not edited in the shortest item page. To prevent this, design according to the shortest item, in its respective item page, and use strips instead of placing elements "freely" inside the sections. Show me how to fix it Design your pages according to the shortest item. This ensures that all pages maintain a consistent layout. Also, use strips to attach elements inside the sections. This makes your design more responsive and avoids large spaces or gaps. This article is credited to the Wix team - https://support.wix.com/ and we thank them for that! < Back Managing your business Business solutions & apps Wix Hotels by HotelRunner: Connecting Airbnb to Your Site Airbnb integrates with Wix Hotels by HotelRunner to streamline your booking management. Before connecting, ensure all room rates and availability are set on the Wix Hotels by HotelRunner dashboard, as this integration overwrites your Airbnb.com calendar. Step 1 | Important information before you connect Airbnb Before you connect Airbnb as a channel, make sure to set and update the rates and availability of all rooms on the Inventory Calendar . After connection, HotelRunner will transfer all of your inventory to Airbnb, overwriting the calendar you have on the channel. All updates must be done from Wix, your extranet calendar will be blocked. Once your Airbnb connection is complete, the reservations you already had on Airbnb and the new ones you will receive will be forwarded to Wix Hotels by HotelRunner. You can view all your reservations from the Reservations section. Before the integration, to open your slots on Airbnb.com, please update your rooms with 2 weeks of rates and availability for the channel manager to fully register your rooms. If you have blocked certain dates on your calendar before the integration, once the integration is completed, we cannot overwrite your blocked dates. Step 4 | Adjust your advanced settings With the advanced settings for the Airbnb integration, you can ensure your room availability doesn't fall below a set number using the base availability. To adjust your advanced settings: Go to Channel Manager in the Wix Hotels by HotelRunner dashboard. Click View channel details next to Airbnb. Hover over the relevant room type and click Expand . Click Advanced Settings at the top right. Select the relevant option from the Room type of your property drop-down. Choose this option when you’re confident that your existing inventory data is accurate and up-to-date. Number of available beds in available rooms: Sets the availability based on the number of beds in the rooms that are available. For example: If you manage a hostel where each room has multiple beds, and you want to track and sell each bed individually within the available rooms. Number of available beds: Sets the availability based on the total number of beds available. For example, a dormitory, where beds can be booked individually, regardless of which specific room they are in. Number of available rooms: Sets the availability based on the total number of rooms available. Use this option for traditional hotels where you want to set availability based on entire rooms being booked, without focusing on the number of beds in each room. Enter the relevant number in the Base availability field. Base availability is the minimum number of rooms you always want to keep available, no matter how many you sell. For example, if you set it to 5, your system will always show at least 5 rooms available, even if others are booked. We recommend you do not make any changes here, as it can cause overbooking . Select Yes under Commission included . Enter the relevant Adjustment amount. Choose either a percentage adjustment or a monetary adjustment, and choose whether the adjustment is an increase + or a decrease - . Enable the Main rate toggle to set this rate type as the main rate. Enable the Read-only toggle to update reservations and availability of the room. Note: Other updates such as rate, minimum stay, stop sell etc, are not affected. Enable the Send price toggle to update only availability for the room type. The price for this rate type won’t be sent to Airbnb. Repeat steps 9-14 for all room types. Click Save . Show me how to use advanced settings to increase my room rates on Airbnb For example, if you want to send your rate for a room type to Airbnb at a 25% higher rate than on your Wix Hotels by HotelRunner calendar: In the drop-down next to the room type, select Don't send . Enter 25 in the Adjustment field. Click the percentage adjustment icon . Click the Increase icon + . Enable the Main rate toggle. Enable the Send price toggle. You can review and update your room mapping from the Channel Manager in the dashboard at any time. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) Click a question below to learn more. What should I do before connecting Wix Hotels by HotelRunner with Airbnb? Make sure all your room rates and availability are set on the Inventory Calendar in the Wix Hotels by HotelRunner dashboard. This setup will be transferred to Airbnb, and any updates must be managed from Wix after the connection. Update your rooms with 2 weeks of rates and availability in Wix Hotels by HotelRunner. This allows the channel manager to fetch your rooms into the system. How are reservations handled after the connection? All future reservations will be fetched into your Wix Dashboard. Reservations with an expired check-in date will not be fetched into your Wix Dashboard. Can I connect multiple Hotel IDs or group hotels to one Wix Hotels by HotelRunner account? No, you can only connect one Hotel ID from each channel to a single Wix Hotels by HotelRunner account. Group hotels or different Hotel IDs require separate accounts. What happens to blocked dates on my Airbnb calendar after integration? Blocked dates on your Airbnb calendar will remain unchanged. To manage these dates, you’ll need to unblock them from the Airbnb extranet. What options should I select during the HotelRunner integration on Airbnb? You should select reservations, rates and availability, guest reviews, and reporting. Online check-in, content, and photo options are optional but recommended. How do I map room types between Wix Hotels by HotelRunner and Airbnb? Use room IDs to match your rooms between the two platforms. Ensure that room types and prices align, such as mapping both “Junior Suite for 1 person” and “Junior Suite for 2 people.” What other uses are there for the advanced settings for the Airbnb channel? Base Availability: This setting ensures you always have a minimum number of rooms available, even if bookings are made. For instance, if you set a base allotment of 5, the system will maintain at least 5 rooms in your inventory, regardless of how many bookings come in. This is particularly beneficial during high-demand periods like festivals or holidays, ensuring that you always have rooms available for direct bookings or last-minute guests. By maintaining this buffer, you can maximize revenue by selling these rooms at higher rates when demand peaks. Adjustment: The Adjustment setting allows you to fine-tune the pricing sent to Airbnb, independent of your standard rates. For example, if you want to increase your prices on Airbnb by 10% to account for platform fees or market demand, you can do this by entering the adjustment. This flexibility helps you optimize revenue across different booking channels by adjusting prices to match specific market conditions, such as higher pricing on Airbnb during peak travel seasons while keeping other platforms at regular rates. Commission: For the Airbnb integration with Wix Hotels by HotelRunner, the Commission field is not needed, and you should leave it blank. This is because Airbnb's pricing structure already includes its service fees, so entering additional commission values here could lead to confusion or unintended price changes. By skipping this field, you ensure that your rates remain clear and consistent with Airbnb’s pricing model, avoiding potential overcharging or undercharging of guests. Stop Sale: When you activate the Stop Sale option, the selected rate type will be completely closed off from booking on Airbnb for all dates. This is useful if you want to manage inventory during renovations, special events, or if you need to prevent bookings due to unexpected closures. For example, if you know that your property will undergo maintenance next month, you can use Stop Sale to block reservations during that period, ensuring that guests are not inconvenienced by the unavailability of your services. Read Only: Enabling the Read-Only option ensures that no updates are sent from your system to Airbnb for a specific rate type, while still allowing reservations to be displayed in your dashboard. This is useful for hiding promotional rates or derived rates that are meant for special offers and shouldn’t be updated automatically. For example, if you have a promotional rate for long-term stays that you want to keep separate from regular pricing updates, Read-Only ensures that this rate remains static and visible only to specific audiences, without being affected by ongoing pricing adjustments. Main Rate: Designating a rate type as the "Main Rate" makes it the default rate that appears at the top of your calendar. This is beneficial if you have a primary rate that you offer year-round, such as a standard nightly rate. By setting it as the Main Rate, you ensure that it’s always clearly displayed and easy to manage. For example, if you frequently adjust rates for special events or seasons, having a Main Rate ensures that your baseline pricing is always visible and can be quickly referenced or changed without confusion.
