Enterprise Solution: Creating and Managing Multisite Networks
Manage groups of sites that share the same design and layout by connecting them to a single custom template in your enterprise dashboard. Multisite networks let you roll out design, layout and Velo code changes once at the template level and apply them across all connected sites, while each site keeps its own content.
This helps keep your brand consistent at scale, reduce manual work for teams, and give local site owners a clear way to manage their own content.
Important:
Only sites created with the Wix Studio Editor are supported.
When you roll out a network update, template changes go live on published sites and appear only in the editor on unpublished sites. Layout, design, and Velo code from the master template overwrite static edits and local code on network sites, but CMS content is not affected. To keep site‑specific content, store it in CMS collections and connect your elements to those fields.
Creating a multisite network
Create a multisite network to connect a custom template to a group of sites. Any future updates you roll out from the template apply to all sites in the network.
Before you begin:
Create a custom template in your enterprise dashboard to use as the master for your multisite network.
Set up CMS collections and fields for any site-specific content. Local design or layout edits you make directly in the editor can be overwritten when you update the network template.
To create a multisite network:
Go to Multisite Networks in your enterprise dashboard.
Click + Create New Network at the top right.
Add your Network name.
Click Select Network Template, select a custom template, and click Select.
Click Create Multisite Network.
Creating a network site
After you create the network, you see the master template at the top of the page and an empty Network sites section. From here, you can create new sites based on the selected template and add them to the network.
To create a network site:
Go to Multisite Networks in your enterprise dashboard.
Hover over the relevant network and click Manage Network.
Click + Create Network Site at the bottom panel.
Add your Site name.
Click Create Network Site.
Managing network sites
Use the Network sites section to stay on top of all connected sites. You can search and filter your list, open individual sites when you need to make local changes, and disconnect sites that should no longer receive updates from the master template.
To manage a network site:
Go to Multisite Networks in your enterprise dashboard.
Hover over the relevant network and click Manage Network.
In the Network sites section, find the site you want to manage.
Click the More Actions icon next to the site and choose what you want to do:
Edit site: Open the site in the editor.
Go to dashboard: Go to the site’s dashboard to manage settings, domains, and more.
Preview / View live site: Open a preview if the site is not published yet, or open the live site in a new tab if it is already published.
Invite teammates: Add teammates to the site so they can collaborate in the dashboard and editor.
Disconnect from network: Remove the site from the network so it no longer receives template updates, working as a standalone site.
Creating a new template revision
When you change the layout or design of the master template, a new template revision is created. You can then choose when to roll this revision out to all sites in the network.
To create a new template revision:
Go to Multisite Networks in your enterprise dashboard.
Hover over the relevant network and click Manage Network.
In the Network template section, click Edit Template.
In the Studio Editor, make the changes you want to apply across your sites.
Click the Wix Studio icon

at the top left.
Under Site, click Save, or press Ctrl + S (Windows) or ⌘ + S (Mac).
Note: A new template revision is created in the template’s history.
Updating your network sites
When you are ready, you can roll out a specific template revision to all sites in the network or, if you need to roll back changes, you can restore an earlier template revision. This applies the layout and design changes while overriding local static edits made in the master template.
Important:
When you roll out a network update, template changes go live on published sites and appear only in the editor on unpublished sites. Static content edited directly in the editor is overwritten by the master template, but CMS content is not. To keep unique content per site, store it in CMS collections and connect your elements to those fields.
To update your network sites:
Go to Multisite Networks in your enterprise dashboard.
Hover over the relevant network and click Manage Network.
In the Update sites section, choose what you want to do:
Update to the latest revision: Click Update Network Sites on the banner if there are new changes to apply.
Restore a previous revision: Click Restore revision to select an earlier version of your template.
In the list of template revisions, select the revision you want to roll out.
Compare the revision that is currently live on your network sites and the revision you are about to apply.
Select the checkbox at the bottom and click Update Network Sites.
FAQs
Click a question below to learn more about multisite networks.
What gets updated when I roll out a template revision?
Rolling out a template revision updates the following across all connected sites and overrides any local changes made to synced site properties:
Page structures, including sections and components with their design and layout.
Connections between elements and CMS fields.
Creation, deletion, and updates to CMS collections and fields, not including the data inside those collections.
Global site styles, such as colors and typography.
Velo code.
What does not update when I roll out a template revision?
The items below do not update from the template and are managed locally on each site:
SEO data.
CMS data.
App data, such as store inventory or services. Installing or removing apps from the template is not supported yet.
Business manager data, such as contacts, automations, and marketing tools.
Removing pages from the template will not delete them from the network sites.
We are working to support updates in both pages and apps.
Is there a limit for how many network sites I can create?
There is no limit on how many sites you can add to a multisite network.
What happens if there's an error while I'm updating the sites for a new version?
If something goes wrong during the update, the rollout stops and all sites in the network maintain their current version. You see a message listing the sites that failed to update, so you can review the issue and try again without ending up with a mix of versions.
Can I move an existing site into a network?
Currently, you can only add sites to a network by creating new network sites from the master template. Existing sites cannot be moved into a network yet. If you have questions about moving existing sites into a network, reach out to your Customer Success Manager (CSM) to discuss possible options.
Who can create or manage multisite networks?
By default, only admins and co-admins can create and manage multisite networks. To give others access, use Roles & Permissions and assign the Manage Multisite Networks permission for their role.
Does updating my network sites publish sites that are not live yet?
No. When you update network sites to a new template revision, any sites that are already published are republished with the new design. Sites that have not been published yet stay unpublished. They receive the new version in the editor, and you can publish them when you are ready.
