Wix SEO Setup Checklist: Viewing and Updating Your Keywords

The Wix SEO Setup Checklist is a step-by-step checklist that can help you improve your site's search engine optimization (SEO) based on your business's information and your keywords.

Your site's keywords power the SEO that helps you rank higher in Google, and the GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) that helps your site get surfaced and cited by AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity.

After you've created your checklist, you can view your checklist's keywords and update them if needed.

The SEO Setup Checklist doesn't automatically add any keyword to your site's source code as it's generally not a good practice.

When reviewing your site, Google and other search engines don't search for a list of keywords in your site's source code to understand what it's about. Rather, they look for keywords that are organically implemented in your content.

Think in questions, not just phrases. AI search tools answer full questions, not keyword fragments. For each keyword, think about the question a visitor might type into an AI chatbot. For example, instead of entering "wedding photographer Austin", enter "Who's the best wedding photographer in Austin?"

Keywords framed this way make it easier to write page content and meta descriptions that match how people query AI engines, which is part of what improves your AI visibility and GEO.
