Using AI-Generated Structured Data for Blog Posts
Note:
AI-generated structured data currently works only for Wix Blog posts. To add structured data to other pages (such as home pages or other static pages), use manual structured data. Learn how to add structured data markup to your site’s pages.
AI-generated structured data uses AI to scan the content of your blog posts and create Schema.org markup that describes what your posts are about. For example, it can create Article, BlogPosting, FAQPage, or Recipe schemas, depending on what is in the post. This helps search engines and AI assistants better understand your posts and can support rich results that make your content stand out.
Before you begin:
Make sure your site has Wix Blog installed, with at least one published blog post, and that you can access your site’s SEO & GEO Settings.

Enabling AI-generated structured data for your blog
By default, when AI-generated structured data is enabled, AI analyzes each eligible published blog post, generates relevant schema types, and adds the valid markups to that post.
To enable AI-generated structured data:
Go to SEO & GEO in your site's dashboard.
Scroll down to Tools and settings.
Click SEO Settings.
Click Blog posts under Edit by page type.
Click the Customize defaults tab.
Click Edit next to Structured data markup.
Click the toggle next to Activate AI-generated markups for your blog.
Click Save.

Note:
When you edit a post after enabling AI-generated structured data, AI automatically analyzes the content again, and refreshes the AI-generated structured data, unless you have opted out for that post or a specific markup.
Viewing and managing AI-generated structured data for a specific post
You can open an individual blog post’s SEO settings to see exactly which schemas were generated for that post, view their status, and decide what to keep, disable, or convert to manual custom markups.
Important:
AI-generated structured data is read-only. Any changes to these schemas require converting them to manual custom markups.
To view and manage AI-generated structured data for a specific post:
Go to SEO & GEO in your site's dashboard.
Scroll down to Tools and settings.
Click SEO Settings.
Click Main pages under Edit by page type.
Hover over Blog and click Edit.
Click the Advanced tab.
Click Structured data markup.
Choose what you want to do:
View an AI-generated markup
Click the More Actions icon

next to the relevant AI-generated markup.
Click View.

Exclude an AI-generated markup from your blog page
Click the More Actions icon

next to the relevant AI-generated markup.
Click Exclude from page.

Deactivate AI-generated markups for your blog post
Click the More Actions icon

next to AI-generated markups are active and update automatically.
Click Deactivate AI-generated markups for this post.

Tip: Click Reactivate to continue generating markups for the blog post.
Creating a custom markup from an AI-generated markup
If you want full control over a specific markup, you can create a custom markup from an AI-generated markup that you can maintain manually.
Important:
After conversion, you are responsible for keeping the custom markup accurate when the blog post content changes.
To create a custom markup from an AI-generated markup:
Go to SEO & GEO in your site's dashboard.
Scroll down to Tools and settings.
Click SEO Settings.
Click Main pages under Edit by page type.
Hover over Blog and click Edit.
Click the Advanced tab.
Click Structured data markup.
Click the More Actions icon

next to the relevant AI-generated markup.
Click View.
Click Create a custom markup under the Code Preview.
Click Continue.
Add your new markup under Write your markup in JSON-LD format.
Click Apply.

Troubleshooting AI-generated structured data
If AI-generated structured data is not working as expected for your blog posts, use the checks below to understand what is happening and what you can do next.
No structured data was generated for my post
If no structured data was generated, your post may not include enough clearly structured information for supported schema types such as FAQ, Recipe, or Article variants.
To improve your content so structured data can be generated:
Check that your post has clear headings that reflect the main topic and sections.
Add structured elements such as lists, questions and answers, or clear step-by-step instructions where relevant.
Make sure important details like titles, descriptions, and key points are written clearly in the body of the post, not only in images.
Update and republish your post, then check the AI-generated structured data again.
I see the message "AI-generated markups weren't created due to a technical issue on our end."
This message can appear if all generated schema types fail validation or if there is a temporary issue with generation.
To try again:
Click Try Again.
If the message appears again, review your post and make sure key details are clear, such as the main title, subheadings, descriptions, and any featured images.
Update and republish your post with clearer structure or more complete information.
Open the structured data panel again and try generating structured data once more.
My recipe structured data is not appearing
Some recipe results on Google require at least one suitable image. If your recipe post does not include an image, the Recipe schema may be skipped.
To fix issues with recipe structured data:
Add at least one image that clearly represents the finished recipe.
Make sure the image is added directly to the recipe post, not only as a background or decorative image.
Republish the post.
Open the AI-generated structured data panel again and check whether Recipe markup is now included.
Manual and AI-generated schemas seem to overlap
Search engines decide which schemas to use and how to display them in results. You can have both AI-generated and manual schemas on the same post.
To reduce conflicts between manual and AI-generated schemas:
Avoid creating manual schema markup that directly contradicts the AI-generated structured data for the same type, such as 2 different Recipe markups with different values.
If you need full custom control and are comfortable managing inconsistencies yourself, you can keep your manual schema and turn off or ignore the AI-generated version for that post.
After you adjust your manual or AI-generated schemas, allow some time for search engines to recrawl your post and update how it appears in results.
FAQs
Click a question below to learn more about using AI-generated structured data for blog posts.
What schema types does AI-generated structured data create?
AI-generated structured data can create different Schema.org types based on your blog post content, such as Article, BlogPosting, FAQPage, Recipe, and other content-specific types. The exact types depend on your content structure, headings, explicit questions, and other details you add to the post.
How do AI assistants use my structured data?
Tools like NLWeb read your structured data to find answers on your site. AI assistants use those answers to reply with details from your posts, instead of guessing.
Why can’t I edit AI-generated markup directly?
AI-generated structured data is designed to stay aligned with your content automatically, so it remains read-only. If you want to customize a schema, create a custom markup. You then have full control to edit that markup manually.
What happens to my AI-generated structured data if I disable the feature temporarily?
When you disable the site-level toggle, AI-generated structured data is not applied to your blog posts for search engines. When you enable AI-generated structured data again, AI resumes generating and updating schemas for eligible posts, taking into account any post-level or per-markup opt-outs you set.
Will AI-generated structured data replace my existing manual markups?
No. AI-generated structured data does not overwrite or remove your manual structured data. Both AI-generated and manual markups can exist at the same time. Search engines decide which ones to use for enhanced displays.
What if AI generates a markup I don't want?
You have several options. You can disable that specific markup per post using the per-markup control in the AI-generated structured data panel. If you prefer not to use AI-generated structured data for that post at all, you can disable AI for that post or disable the site-level toggle for all blog posts.
