Wix Legends: Understanding the Potential Risks of Using AI
Wix Legends is an AI-powered platform that lets you create your own Legend: a digital presence that represents you and engages with visitors in real time. Like all generative AI tools, Wix Legends comes with risks that are important to understand.
This article explains the key risks associated with creating and sharing an AI avatar, and provides practical guidance for using the platform responsibly.
What to keep in mind when using Wix Legends
Wix Legends can be a powerful way to connect with your audience online. Because your Legend interacts with visitors on your behalf, it is important to understand the main risks:
Accuracy and misinformation
AI-generated responses are not guaranteed to be accurate or up to date. Your Legend might produce incorrect information, even when drawing from knowledge you’ve provided.
Harmful or inappropriate content
Depending on how your Legend is set up or how visitors interact with it, the AI may produce outputs that are offensive, harmful, or inappropriate. You are responsible for setting appropriate boundaries for your Legend’s behavior.
Misrepresentation and impersonation
Your Legend is designed to represent you. However, the AI may occasionally say things that don’t reflect your views, expertise, or intentions.
Privacy
Interactions between your Legend and visitors may involve the sharing of personal information. Be thoughtful about what personal data you include in your Legend’s knowledge base, and ensure that conversations are handled in line with your privacy obligations.
Prohibited uses of Wix Legends
To protect visitors and maintain a safe platform, certain uses of Wix Legends are strictly forbidden. You may not create a Legend, or configure it to generate content that:
Represents another person, living or deceased, without their written consent.
Is intended to interact with minors under the age of 18, or represents you if you are under 18.
Is hateful, violent, discriminatory, obscene, abusive, harassing, inflammatory, or otherwise objectionable.
Is sexually explicit or pornographic.
Promotes illegal activity or any form of harm to visitors, others, or animals.
Provides material personal, financial, medical, or legal advice.
Makes material decisions affecting access to education, employment, financial services, healthcare, housing, insurance, legal services, or government services, without complying with applicable regulations.
Uses subliminal or manipulative techniques that distort visitors’ decision-making.
Exploits visitors’ vulnerabilities based on age, disability, or socioeconomic situation, or exposes children to inappropriate content.
Is used for luck-based promotions such as contests, lotteries, or sweepstakes.
Could violate regulations governing licensed professions.
Recommendations for safe and responsible use
As the creator of your Legend, you play an essential role in making sure it operates responsibly. Here are some best practices:
Regularly review your Legend’s conversations to check for inaccurate, inappropriate, or off-brand responses.
Clearly define the topics and boundaries your Legend covers, and set explicit restrictions for anything you don’t want it to discuss.
Do not include others’ personal information in your Legend’s knowledge base without their consent.
Avoid configuring your Legend to provide professional advice on medical, legal, or financial matters.
Be transparent with your audience by letting visitors know they are interacting with an AI.
Ensure your Legend complies with Wix’s Content Guidelines and applicable local laws.
Important:
Wix cannot guarantee that your use of Wix Legends is compliant with all local laws and regulations, including AI-specific regulations.
You are responsible for the content your Legend generates and for complying with applicable legislation.
