Wix Messaging: Verifying Your Business for SMS Campaigns

To send SMS campaigns to the US or Canada, you need a verified toll-free number. Wix provides the number. You need to complete a verification form so local carriers can confirm your business.

Once your business is verified, you'll be able to start sending SMS campaigns right away.

Before you begin:

Have these ready before you open the form:

  • Your legal business name, exactly as it appears on your registration documents

  • If required, your business registration number (for example, an EIN for US businesses)

  • A business email address, preferably on your own domain (for example, name@yourbusiness.com)

  • Your business website URL. Your site must be publicly accessible and clearly identify your business

Step 1 | Set up an SMS opt-in on your site

Your opt-in is where visitors agree to receive SMS from you. Reviewers check your opt-in closely. Problems with it are the top reason verifications get rejected.

Note:

If you collect consent through the checkout form instead of a signup form, go to Settings in your site's dashboard and click Checkout. Then, select the Show separate opt-in checkboxes for email and SMS at checkout checkbox.

If you already have a signup form on your site, use the checklist below to confirm it meets the requirements before moving on.

Your form needs:

  • A phone number field

  • A separate SMS consent checkbox. This must not be shared with your email newsletter opt-in, terms and conditions, or any other agreement

  • The checkbox unchecked by default

  • The checkbox must be optional. Visitors must be able to submit the form without selecting it

    • The checkbox text must state:

      • What kind of messages you'll send (for example, "marketing text messages")

      • Message frequency (for example, "Message frequency varies")

      • "Message and data rates may apply"

      • How to opt out or get help (for example, "Text STOP to opt out or HELP for help")

      • Example wording you can copy or adjust for your needs:

"I agree to receive recurring marketing text messages from this business. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Text STOP to opt out or HELP for help."

To add or edit the form in Wix Forms:

  1. Go to Forms and Submissions in your site's dashboard.

  2. Open an existing form, or click + Create Form and select your form type:

    1. Website form: to embed on a page of your site

    2. Standalone form: for a shareable link

  3. Add a Phone field.

  4. Add a Subscribe field.

Note: It must be a separate field from any other opt-in.

  5. Click the Subscribe field, then click Field Settings to begin setup:

    • Subscription methods: Enable the SMS toggle.

    • Checkbox message: Enter the example text above, or write your own, making sure it meets all the requirements listed above.

    • Checked by default: Disable the toggle to ensure you comply with privacy laws

    • Required field: Disable the toggle to ensure that visitors are not required to subscribe to complete the form.

setting up a form

  1. Publish the form on your site.

Tip: Note the URL of the page where the form appears. You'll need it in Step 6.

Step 2 | Open the verification form

  1. Go to Messaging Campaigns in your site's dashboard.

  2. Click + New Campaign.

  3. Select United States & Canada as the destination.

  4. Click Start Verification.

Tip: Your progress is saved each time you click Next. You can close the form and return without losing your progress.

Step 3 | Enter your business information

This section tells local carriers who your business is. Every field must match your official registration documents.

To enter your business information:

  1. Enter your business name in the Legal business name field, exactly as it appears on your registration documents.

Tip: For US businesses, this is the name on your CP 575 EIN Confirmation Letter from the IRS. Don't use your public brand name unless it matches your legal name

  2. (Optional) Enter your public-facing name in the Business DBA (Doing Business As) field if you operate under a different name.

  3. Click the Company type dropdown and select the option that matches your registration:

    • Private profit: most private, for-profit companies (LLCs, corporations)

    • Public profit: publicly traded companies

    • Non profit: registered non-profits (for example, 501(c)(3))

    • Sole proprietor: unincorporated single-owner businesse

    • Government: government agencies

  4. If requested, select your Business registration issuing country.

  5. If requested, select your Business registration ID type. For example, "USA: Employer Identification Number (EIN)."

  6. If requested, enter your registration number in the EIN (or equivalent) field, exactly as it appears on your official documents.

Tip: This is not required if you selected Sole proprietor.

  7. Enter your website address in the Business website URL field. The site must be publicly accessible and clearly identify your business.

  8. Click Next.

  9. Add the country your company is registered in the Address country field.

  10. Add your business address.

  11. Click Next.

Important:

The Company type you select must match your official registration. For instance, if your legal name ends in "LLC" but you select Sole proprietor, your submission will be rejected for entity misclassification.

Step 4 | Add your authorized representative

Add the person that local carriers can reach if they have questions about your submission.

To add your authorized representative:

  1. Enter the contact's First name and Last name.

  2. Enter a business email address. The best option is an address on your own domain (for example, contact@yourbusiness.com).

  3. Enter the contact's phone number.

  4. Click Next.

Note:

If you can only use a free email provider like Gmail, Yahoo, or Outlook, both of the following must be true:

  • The email name relates to your business or brand. For example, bloom.yoga@gmail.com is acceptable; john.smith@gmail.com is not.

  • The email is listed as a contact address on your website.

Step 5 | Describe your messaging use case

Your messaging use case should clearly explain under what circumstances your subscribers should expect to hear from you.

To describe your use case:

  1. Select an estimated monthly SMS volume.

Tip: If you're not sure, select 10,000. This number doesn't affect your approval.

  2. Under Use case(s), select all that apply.

Tip: We recommend you select Marketing. This matches the opt-in language from Step 1 and works for most Wix businesses.

  3. Enter your description(s) in the Use case description field. Describe what messages you'll send, who receives them, and how customers opt in. Be specific.

Tip: Examples are available in the form.

  4. Enter at least one sample message in the Sample message field.

Tip:

Every sample must include your business name and opt-out instructions. For example:

"Bloom Yoga is offering 20% off your next class! Use code SAVE20 at checkout. Reply STOP to opt out."

Step 6 | Share your opt-in

Reviewers need to see the page where customers agree to receive SMS from you. This is the form you set up in Step 1.

Note:

If you collect consent through the checkout form, provide the URL or a screenshot of your checkout instead of the opt-in form.

To share your opt-in:

1. Under Opt-in type, select Web form.

2. In the Opt-in policy proof field, provide the URL or a screenshot of your opt-in form:

  • If your form is on a live, public page: paste the URL (for example, https://bloomyoga.com/subscribe).

  • If your form is behind a login or not publicly accessible: host a screenshot publicly and paste its URL.

To host a screenshot of your form:

  1. Take a screenshot that clearly shows your brand, the phone number field, the consent checkbox (unchecked), the full checkbox text, and the submit button:

    • Mac: Press Shift + Command + 4.

    • Windows: Press Windows + Shift + S.

  2. Upload the screenshot to a cloud service and copy a public link:

    • Google Drive: Drag the file to drive.google.com → right-click → Share → Anyone with the link → Copy link.

    • Microsoft OneDrive: Upload to onedrive.live.com → right-click → Share → Anyone with the link can view → Copy link.

  3. (Optional) Test the link in a private browser window to confirm it loads without a login prompt.

  1. Paste the URL in the Opt-in policy proof field.

  2. (Optional) Enter a URL for your Terms of Use and/or Privacy Policy, if you have them.

  3. Click Next.

Important:

Keep the link public until your verification is approved. Revoking access early can stall your review.

Step 7 | Review and submit

  1. Review your form information and confirm the following:

    • Every field matches your official business documents (legal name, EIN).

    • Your business email is on your own domain or, if using a free email provider, it appears on your website.

    • Your opt-in URL loads without a login prompt in a private browser window.

    • Your sample messages include your business name and opt-out instructions.

  2. Click Submit registration. You'll get a confirmation email once your submission is received.

FAQs

Click a question below to learn more about business verification for SMS campaigns.

If your submission is rejected, you'll get an email listing the reason and what to fix. You have 7 days to resubmit. Resubmissions within this window go to a priority queue. After 7 days, you'll need to fill out the form again and wait another 5 business days.

To fix and resubmit:

  1. Go to Messaging Campaigns in your site's dashboard.

  2. Click Edit & Submit. Your previous submission loads, so you don't need to start over.

  3. Fix the fields listed in your rejection email. See the FAQ below for guidance on common rejection reasons.

  4. Click Submit.

Here are the most common reasons why a verification may fail, and how you can fix the issue:

  • Business email must use an official domain: Use an email on your own domain (for example, name@yourbusiness.com). If you use a free provider, make sure the address relates to your business and is listed as a contact on your website

  • Entity type mismatch: Make sure Company type matches your official registration. For example, an LLC should be PRIVATE_PROFIT, not SOLE_PROPRIETOR

  • Business registration number is missing or invalid: Enter your EIN (or equivalent) exactly as it appears on your registration documents.

  • Marketing messages require express written consent: Your SMS opt-in must be a written checkbox on your site. Set it up following Step 1.

  • Opt-in doesn't match your use case: Your consent language, use case selection, and sample messages must all describe the same kind of messages. Update whichever is out of sync.

  • Consent is a requirement for service: Visitors must be able to submit your form without selecting the SMS consent checkbox. Disable the Required field toggle within your Subscribe field.

  • Consent bundled with other agreements: Your SMS consent checkbox must be separate from any other agreement (email newsletter, terms, purchase agreement)

  • Consent must be optional: Disable the Required field toggle within your Subscribe field.

  • Opt-in must clearly reflect your business: Add your business name, logo, or branding to the page where the form appears
