Troubleshooting: Not Seeing My Google AdSense Ads
If your Google AdSense ads are not displaying on your site, there are several common reasons this might happen. This step-by-step troubleshooting guide helps you identify the issue and get your ads live again.
Step 1 | Allow time for Google to complete their review
Even if you have an ad code ready to implement, your account may still be pending approval from Google. This means it isn't fully active yet, which can delay ads from appearing on your site.
Step 2 | Wait 48 hours to ensure your ad is activated
After you enter a new ad code, or edit an existing ad, it can take up to 48 hours for the new ad to appear on your site. Wait for 48 hours and then check your live site to see if the ads are displayed.
Step 3 | Verify your ad code
Errors in your AdSense ad code can prevent ads from displaying properly and may contribute to application rejection or policy violations. Check that the ad code is copied and pasted correctly without modifications. If it looks correct, consider testing in a different section of your site.
Step 4 | Check to see if the ad is blocked by security software or a browser extension
Ads can be blocked by browser extensions, settings, or security software. Try the following steps:
Check your browser’s popup and ad-blocking settings (e.g., for Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Safari, or Internet Explorer). Disable any ad-blocking options.
Go to your browser’s extensions or add-ons menu. Temporarily disable ad-blocking extensions like AdBlock.
Open a new incognito browsing window. If ads appear here, an extension or security software might be blocking them.
Disable extensions or monitoring software one by one, refreshing the page each time, to identify the source of the issue.
Note: Ads might display properly on one device or network, but not on another. For example, ads that display on a home computer might be blocked on a work laptop with stricter network settings.
Step 5 | Check that your site domain is listed correctly
If the domain listed in Google AdSense does not match your current site domain, ads will stop appearing on your site. We recommend the following actions:
Compare your site's domain name (e.g. mystunningwebsite.com) to the domain name listed in the Sites tab of your Google AdSense dashboard. If the domain is incorrect, remove it and add your site's new domain name.
If you have failed to renew your domain, ads no longer appear on your site. Go to the Domains tab in your site's dashboard and connect your domain.
If you connected a new domain to your site, Google AdSense no longer recognizes your site. Add your site's new URL to the list in the Sites tab in the AdSense dashboard.
Step 6 | Site verification status in Google AdSense is "unverified"
If changes were made to a verified site, ads may no longer display. Check your verification status following these instructions and if your site is unverified, follow the steps to re-verify it.
Step 7 | Ensure there are no policy violations on your site
Ads will not appear if your site violates Google AdSense policies. To check for issues, go to the Account tab in your AdSense dashboard, select Policy Center, and review any violations. Follow the suggested steps to resolve them.
Contact Google for help
The Google AdSense app works by displaying the information that it receives from Google. If you have followed all the steps above and still don't see ads on your site, we recommend contacting Google directly to find out the specific reason that ads are not displaying on your site.
