Site Members: Managing Your Member Privacy Settings

Important:

We're working on releasing this feature which is not available yet to everyone.

Manage the privacy of your members' profiles, based on how much you want members to interact with each other. Decide whether or not members can make their profile public, and whether it's visible to all visitors or logged-in members only.

Public profiles help to foster a sense of community, especially (but not only) when using social apps like Wix Blog and Wix Groups.

Using the default signup form?

You can set up the form so members automatically register with a public profile, or let them choose their own privacy level.

Managing the member privacy settings

Decide if your members should have the option to make their profile public, and who can see their profile. When a profile is public, the member's name and image appear next to their activities (e.g. any comments, likes or files they post). These details are clickable, leading to the member's profile.

Dashboard

  1. Go to Settings in your site's dashboard.

  2. Click Site member settings.

  3. Click Member privacy.

  4. Select an option under Who can set their profile to public:

Tip: If you don't see this, click Edit Profile Privacy first. Then select an option under Who can set their profile to public.

This option lets every member choose whether or not to make their profile public.

If a member makes their profile public, their name and profile image are displayed next to their activities (e.g. any comments, likes or files they post). The name and profile image are clickable, leading to the member's profile.

Select an option under Who can see public member profiles:

  • Anyone: All site visitors can see your members' profiles.

  • Only site members: Your members' profiles are only visible to logged-in site members.

Select No one if you want all of your members to have private profiles, with no option to make them public.

5. Click Save to apply your changes.

Yes. Member privacy settings sync between your site and Wix member apps (e.g. Spaces by Wix, Fit by Wix or your own mobile app).

Any changes you make via your site dashboard or the Wix mobile app will apply to both your site and the app.

Note: If you created your Wix account before April 8th, 2024, member privacy settings only apply to your site; they do not apply to the apps.
