Wix POS Register: Setting Up Wireless Scanners

Make checking out customers faster and easier by adding a Bluetooth wireless scanner to your Wix POS Register solution. You can purchase a Socket S720 wireless scanner from the Wix POS shop, or connect a different model of Bluetooth scanner.

Important:

While many common Bluetooth wireless scanners should work with Wix POS, some scanners may not be compatible. We recommend using the Socket S720 scanner for the best experience.

Connecting a Socket S720 Bluetooth scanner

After you purchase a Socket S720 wireless scanner, you need to connect it to your POS system.

To connect a Bluetooth scanner:

How do I know if I'm using the New Wix POS or Wix POS Register?

This article will help you understand the differences between the New Wix POS and Wix POS Register.

New Wix POS

1. Open the POS tablet.

2. Tap the Menu icon

   

   , tap Settings, then select Manage Hardware.

3. Tap Connect next to Barcode scanner.

1. Tap Socket S720.

2. Press and hold the power button on your scanner until the light turns on and it beeps twice (low-high), then tap It's Powered On.

3. Scan the QR code with your scanner to switch it to keyboard mode, then tap I Scanned the QR.

4. Scan the QR code to set the data format, then tap I Scanned the QR.

5. Wait while the scanner connects, then tap Done.

POS Register

1. Open the POS tablet.

2. Tap the Menu icon

   

   at the bottom left.

3. Tap Settings, then select Manage Hardware.

4. Tap Set Up Scanner.

5. Tap Connect next to Socket S720.

6. Turn on scanner by holding the power button until the light turns on and the scanner beeps twice.

7. Unpair your scanner from current connection:

   Note: If your scanner was never connected to a POS, skip to step 8.

   1. Click the Factory Reset QR code link.

   2. Scan the QR code and click Done.

8. Scan the QR code in Step 2. Switch to keyboard mode.

9. Scan the QR code in Step 3. Set data format.

1. Click Continue at the top right.

   Tip: Make sure you keep the barcode scanner turned on.

2. Click Connect next to the relevant scanner.

Tip:

Once the scanner successfully connects, the Connect button will change to Connected.

Connecting other Bluetooth scanners

If you already have a different scanner or purchased one other than the Socket S720, you can connect it to your Wix POS Register system.

Important:

• While it should be possible to connect many of the most common Bluetooth wireless scanners, it may not be possible every scanner.

• Consult your scanner's user manual for specific instructions on how to perform these steps.

To connect a Bluetooth scanner:

New Wix POS

1. Open the POS tablet.

2. Tap the Menu icon

   

   , tap Settings, then select Manage Hardware.

3. Tap Connect next to Barcode scanner.

1. Turn on your scanner and put it in pairing mode, following your scanner's user manual, then tap It's Powered On.

2. Scan the QR code with your scanner to switch it to keyboard mode, then tap I Scanned the QR.

3. Scan the QR code to set the data format, then tap I Scanned the QR.

4. Wait while the scanner connects, then tap Done.

POS Register

1. Open the POS tablet.

2. Tap the Menu icon

   

   at the bottom left.

3. Tap Settings, then select Manage Hardware.

4. Tap Set Up Scanner.

5. Tap Connect next to Other Wireless Scanner.

6. Prepare your scanner to connect to the Wix POS Register system:

   Note: Consult your scanner's user manual for specific instructions on how to carry out these steps:

   1. Turn on your Bluetooth wireless scanner.

   2. Unpair your scanner from any other system.

      Tip: You can skip this step if your scanner is new.

7. Follow instructions in your scanner's manual to switch to keyboard mode.

8. Follow instructions in your scanner's manual to set the data format to "as is".

   Note: This means that the scanner doesn't add a prefix or suffix to barcodes.

9. Click Continue at the top right.

   Tip: Make sure you keep the barcode scanner turned on.

10. Click Connect next to the relevant scanner.

Tip:

Once you successfully connect, the Connect link changes to Connected.
